Azumanga Daioh anime gets licensed by Sentai Filmworks

Originally from ADV Films, Sentai Filmwork recently announced that they have license the classic comedy series Azumanga Daioh created by Kiyohiko Azuma.

This is what plot is explained by Sentai Filmworks:

Azumanga Daioh is a witty romp into the misadventures of six high-school girls – Chiyo, Tomo, Yomi, Sakaki, Kagura, and a transfer student from Osaka, aptly nicknamed “Osaka.” Under the “guidance” of some rather peculiar teachers, the girls try their best to survive wacky school culture festivals, bread-eating contests, a teacher obsessed with seeing his female student in short shorts, awkward (and sometimes dangerous!) trips to Chiyo’s summer home, and more!”

This anime was originally from ADV and sold in the North America in 2005 and 2006 but they soon became out of print.

The anime will be sold with English Subbed and Dubbed but the release date is unknown.

  1. So exciting! Love this story, but I haven’t been able to get my hands on a copy of the anime (way too expensive). Glad to hear it finally got re-licensed. 😀
