Friday Funny 54: Where is the Dubstep?

TGIF! Thank God it’s Friday! Today is Friday and today is also the last day of Friday of April. In this episode of  these TGIF posts, today is the movie adaptation of the popular PS2 video game Ratchet and Clank. The first Ratchet and Clank game was released in 2002 for the PS2. It became quickly popular with it’s cartoon themes and epic gameplay. It went on to sequels, spinoffs and crossovers with Sly Cooper and Jak and Daxter. With all this hype, players can relieve the gaming experience by purchasing the PS4 game Ratchet and Clank. You can play the game based on the movie which is based on the game! Next Friday is the long awaited movie from Marvel called Captain America: Civil War. I hope you saved enough money after Ratchet and Clank because not only Civil War will be released in May, but Marvel’s X-Men: Apocalypse will be released on Memorial Day! With this said, let’s start this Friday!

Who is ready for May?

Bye ;)!

Platinum Demo – Final Fantasy XV Review

PSN Description:

PLATINUM DEMO — FINAL FANTASY XV whisks players away to a fragmented dreamscape, introducing an original story with a few unique twists. Join young Noctis and his magical guide as you explore the fantastical world of his dreams.

Square Enix recently released a demo of the upcoming video game and long awaited series Final Fantasy XV. The demo is available for PS4 and Xbox One. Unlike the previous demo, Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae, which was included in the Day One edition of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, The company of SE released a new demo that focuses on the different aspects of Final Fantasy XV. I recently played this demo last Saturday and I am impressed on how the graphics and gameplay that was done in this game. I will do my best to cover the points of the game. This is just a demo and the official and final version of the game will be on September 30 of this year.

The story for this demo begins with a young Noctis waking up in the middle of a forest and encountering a Carbuncle. This blue pet communicates to Noctis with a cell phone and leaves messages that guides the player through the surroundings; it also makes squeaky noises. As you follow the Carbuncle, it will guide the player through many worlds which is explained as “dream sequences”. Without going into details, you are in a dream and the Carbuncle is a guide to the player (or Noctis). Besides as a guide, Carbuncle also seems to understand the young boy Noctis and reveals the thoughts and feelings as you progress in the game. This may hint on what will happen in the full game.

Visually/Gaming Graphics

Like in every Final Fantasy game, Square Enix (personally) does an excellent job on the art and visuals of the game scenery and characters. For this Demo, I felt that this game was focused on how will the background and time will appear on the final version. While playing in the game, I came across these mysterious floor panels (sorry I don’t have a picture to show). If you step on them, the game will tell you that the weather or time has changed. You could change the setting and you can play the game in the morning or in a rainy day. Overall, I think the weather function is amazing and it looks like Square took the time to make the world look real as possible.

Unlike the previous Final Fantasy games where players relied on turn-based actions or like FFXIII paradigms, Final Fantasy XV will focus on action combat similar to the game Kingdom Hearts. You first get the feel of action as the young Noctis as he fights monsters named Nightmares. You use either a squeaky toy sword which makes fast attacks and there is a squeaky toy hammer where it deals with the heavy but slow attacks. Noctis will also gain toys that give him magic abilities like “firework” which is actually the magic attack “fire”. When you do become the adult version, you gain the ability to teleport ability in which players can teleport to the environment by throwing swords (almost like Minato from Naruto :P).

I had a fun time playing with the combat. It really did feel like it was trying to be like Kingdom Hearts. The game enabled the player to move freely anywhere and the button function is identical to KH. For example, this is only for the PS4 but when you press the X button, Noctis jumps, the circle button is to attack, square blocks attack or roll away. This is a new experience for this Final Fantasy game and I am really like this. I will admit however, I feel like the attack controls can be clunky. There are times where I get caught up fighting and get less time on defending and I get hurt.

Even though this is just a demo, I am astonished on how far Square Enix went to construct a game like this. I can’t wait until the final version is complete and hopefully improve some stuff like combat. The background is amazing and the combat is something to get used to but since I played Kingdom Hearts, I will definitely have fun with it. As an added bonus, players who complete the Platinum Demo will be rewarded with a Carbuncle and they can name it whatever they want to be. Have you played the demo? If so, what did you think of it? Do you plan on buying Final Fantasy XV? Comment down below for thoughts and opinions. Final Fantasy XV will be released for PS4 and Xbox One on September 30th.

Psalms 27:4

One thing I have desired of the Lord,
That will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord
All the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord,
And to inquire in His temple.

Toriko x One Piece Collaboration Special 1 Anime Review

[Toriko Wiki]

For celebrating the start of Toriko anime, a Special Collaboration with One Piece was made. A 1 hour special serving as Episode 1 of Toriko and Episode 492 for One Piece.

Toriko Episode 1: “Arrival on Gourmet Island! The Gourmet Hunter Toriko Appears!”

One Piece Episode 492: “The Strongest Tag-Team! Luffy and Toriko’s Hard Struggle!”

Just like the description says above, this collaboration special is to promote the beginning anime series of Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro’s manga Toriko. With the help of Eiichiro Oda’s series One Piece, Luffy and his friends will be introduced to the hungry Gourmet Hunter Toriko and his friends and fight man-eating animals. These two Shonen Jump characters will bring in the action and hunger for any fan. This special is split into two parts; one for Toriko and the other for One Piece. Even though Part 1 is technically the first episode of Toriko, it doesn’t appear on the FUNimation DVDs; this also includes part 2. You can, however, watch parts for free at Crunchyroll. I will leave the links to the bottom of the review. This review may have minor spoilers.

Friday Funny Episode 52: Welcome to the Jungle, Hunter!

TGIF! Thank God it’s Friday! Good Morning bloggers! Today is another exciting episode of TGIF: Friday Funny. For anime news, tomorrow is the series premeire of the English Dub anime Hunter x Hunter at Toonami. This is the second week of school and it starting to get busier than ever. I do take breaks once in a while to rest my mind. Lately, I have been busy in video games like Batman Arkham Knight and the app game Kingdom Hearts Unchained x [chi]. Work hard, play hard, but work hard I always say XD. Let’s begin this funny post!

Now that we reached the end, here are classic songs from the cartoon version of “The Jungle Book”.

Goodbye Man-cubs and Woman-cubs! 🙂

Kingdom Hearts Director Tetsuya Nomura message to fans of KH Unchained x

It’s been a week since the release of the Kingdom Hearts app game Kingdom Hearts Unchained x [chi] and it already is getting some positive feedback. Unchained x is surprisingly a fun experience. Now that this game is out and ready to be downloaded for North America, fans is already set and ready to play. Kingdom Hearts director Tetsuya Nomura sends a message to all his fans regarding to the game and fans. This game is available for Android and Apple.

[Kingdom Hearts]

[Square Enix]

We wanted to thank all the KINGDOM HEARTS fans for patiently waiting for the launch of KINGDOM HEARTS Unchained χ in North America. Ever since the launch of the Japanese version, we’ve received many inquiries about when the North America version would become available. Because this is the first KINGDOM HEARTS title that we are providing operation support for outside of Japan, I’m afraid the preparations took longer than expected; but at last, we are ready to begin services for the North American version of KINGDOM HEARTS Unchained χ.

KINGDOM HEARTS Unchained χ falls into the earliest part of the KINGDOM HEARTS series chronology, and it is also the story of new beginnings. The main story may progress slowly, but part of the narrative experience is to take the time to tangibly feel other players existing in the same world as you do. By unraveling the mystery behind the era of “fairytales”, and experiencing the truth leading up to the Keyblade War, we believe players will be able to enjoy KINGDOM HEARTS II.8 even more, which is expected to launch this year. And it goes without saying that it will link not only to KINGDOM HEARTS III, but also to what lies beyond.

The gameplay will be much different from what you may be used to in previous KINGDOM HEARTS titles; in this game, the players would aim for a “one-turn triumph” which focuses on providing players with an exhilarating gameplay experience in a short amount of time on a smartphone. The battle mechanics were designed by the main programmer of The World Ends With You and the Co-director of KINGDOM HEARTS Unchained χ, Hiroyuki Ito, so if you’ve ever played The World Ends With You, you can expect a similar kind of enjoyment there as well. While we have various elements included, such as collecting and strengthening medals, avatars with a broad range of customization, communication between party members, a ranking system and much more, it is also a game that feels right at home within the KINGDOM HEARTS franchise.

We hope KINGDOM HEARTS fans can dive into the world of KINGDOM HEARTS not only through this title, but through the upcoming titles, KINGDOM HEARTS HD II.8 Final Chapter Prologue and KINGDOM HEARTS III. At the same time, as an origins story, there are many elements in the game that new players can enjoy, and the game can also be easily picked up and played, so players in Japan are enjoying the game even if they’ve never experienced the KINGDOM HEARTS series before. So, it would be great if fans new and old take the opportunity to play the game!
