Sonic the Hedgehog Project in 2017?

To those who didn’t know, June 23rd was the 25th anniversary to Sega’s mascot Sonic the Hedgehog. Besides him teasing Dr. Eggman (or Dr. Robotnik) on Twitter or insulting the new game Mighty No. 9, Sonic is still alive and running.

Announced by Sega’s producer Takashi Iizuka during the end of Sonic’s “25th Anniversary Party” in Tokyo, Iizuka stated that a new Sonic Project will be launched in 2017. Sega mentioned that more details will be announced in July 22 at San Diego in a livestream at Twitch.

What do you think the project is? A new Sonic game? A cartoon? Movie?

Speaking of Sonic, it’s also been confirmed in February by Sega Sammy Holdings and CEO Hajime Satomi that there is a plan of making a live-action/ animation hybrid movie of Sonic the Hedgehog. It will be helped by Sony Pictures Entertainment and the movie is planned for release in 2018.

      • I only played Sonic on my PSP. I can’t remember what version that was, but I liked the game and would want to play more if I have the chance.

      • Yeah Sonic is a fun game. I used play it on the GameCube a lot. I like both the 3D and 2D games. I stopped playing when they made the games for Wii U and 3DS.

  1. I can’t wait, hopefully this is a new Sonic game. Not just that, hopefully it is finally the long awaited Sonic Adventure 3. That would be way past cool!
