Anime News: Black Clover anime and Tokyo Ghoul live action film

Black Clover

Revealed in the 28th issue of the Japanese Weekly Shonen Jump, anime director Tatsuya Yoshihara (well-known for directing anime like Monster Musume and Yatterman Night) will  be directing Yūki Tabata’s manga series Black Clover. If you didn’t know about this series, Black Clover is also in the English Shonen Jump as well.

Here is synopsis in the first volume of the book:

Asta is a young boy who dreams of becoming the greatest mage in the kingdom. Only one problem-he can’t use any magic! Luckily for Asta, he receives the incredibly rare five-leaf clover grimoire that gives him the power of anti-magic. Can someone who can’t use magic really become the Wizard King? One thing’s for sure-Asta will never give up! Young Asta was born with no magic ability in a world where magic is everything. In order to prove his strength and keep a promise with his friend, Asta dreams of becoming the greatest mage in the land, the Wizard King!

Tokyo Ghoul

FUNimation is well known for licensing live-action films like the Rurouni Kenshin and Attack on Titan, and now today, they will be licensing the live-action adaptation to Tokyo Ghoul. They will be in charge of the English Subtitles as the movie will be in Japanese. The movie will have well-known live-actors such as from Death Note and even voice actors from One Piece. There are many people involved in the movie and it will be in the hyperlink. The movie is expected to be in theaters in July 29th in Japan.

  1. I hope this movie will be in the style of Rurouni Kenshin and not in the style of Attack on Titan. The Kenshin trilogy is truly amazing, and one that I still count amongst the best live action adaptations of an Animeseries that I have ever seen. Attack on Titan on the other hand, just changed too many things. Even though there were some cool things in it, it strayed too far from the original Animeseries. Here’s hoping that Tokyo Ghoul will be fun (keeping my fingers crossed for it 😊).

    • I haven’t seen the Attack on Titan films but I did hear it didn’t do quite well and I didn’t like how they changed a lot of the story. If they do it like Rurouni Kenshin, this anime movie could gain more popularity. 🙂
