New Sword Art Online announcements!

Announced at the Dengeki Bunko “Aki no Saiten 2017”, Sword Art Online will be receiving some new anime from two announcements!

The first one announced is a third series to the anime and the name of the new show is called Sword Art Online: Alicization. The anime third season was teased in the end of the movie Ordinal Scale. So far, they released a key image to the anime along with returning casts of Kirito and Asuna. New voice actors will play as new characters:

  • Eugeo: Nobunaga Shimazaki
  • Alice: Ai Kayano

This arc takes place after Mother Rosario and the movie Ordinal Scale. It will be based on Reki Kawahara’s light novel.

Another anime getting an anime adaptation is a spinoff series based on Sword Art Online but written by Sigsawa Keiichi, illustrated by Kuroboshi Kouhaku and supervised by Reki Kawahara. The series is called Sword Art Online Alternative Gun Gale Online Alternative.

Here is the synopsis of the story:

The story follows Karen Kohiruimaki, a 183-centimeter-tall (6-foot-tall) college student who’s insecure her height, and is bad at dealing with people in the real world. She enters the world of Gun Gale Online with her avatar, Llenn, who is less than 150 centimeters (5 feet) tall and wears all pink. She meets a beautiful, brown-skinned female player who goes by Pitohui. They hit it off, but one day Pitohui pressures her to participate in “Squad Jam,” a team Battle Royale variation of the Bullet of Bullets tournament

Sword Art Online live-action show gets Tomb Raider writers!

With the criticism of the Death Note Netflix film and the live-action announcement with J. J. Abrams directing Your Name. you think Hollywood would take the hint and stop making live-action movies of anime. However, that won’t stop them when they have permission and money. Already mentioned a while back, Skydance Television announced that they want to do a live-action series of the anime Sword Art Online. Recently, Skydance Television announced that they found some new writers to help lead the project. These writer-producers Patrick Massett and John Zinman made a deal with Kadowawa Corp to help create the live-action series. Patrick and John are responsible for the works of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001 version with Angelina Jolie), The Blacklist and Friday Night Lights.

The pilot episode will, however, be written together with Laeta Kalogridis (Avatar). Here is a quote from Hollywood Reporter:

“Patrick and John have shown incredible range in their storytelling capabilities, from subtle character drama to big, world-building action, and we are beyond fortunate that they have joined the Skydance family,” said Skydance Television president Marcy Ross. “We’re already deep in development with Patrick, John and Laeta on our larger-than-life Skydance SAO series in which we aim not only to satisfy the franchise’s enthusiastic sci-fi and anime fan base but also to appeal to new TV audiences the world over.”

“The fantastical world of SAO offers an unparalleled opportunity to tell stories that resonate on both an epic and human scale. We couldn’t ask for better partners than Skydance and Laeta to help us bring this global pop culture phenomenon to new life on television,” said Massett and Zinman in a joint statement.

Death Note All-in-One Manga Edition unboxing

Some of you may have seen my Twitter but I recently bought the entire manga collection Death Note all in one book, literally! As a way to promote the live-action Netflix film Death Note movie, Viz Media, English Company that license the manga and anime of titles like Death Note, Naruto and others, licenses and re-release the entire 12-volume of Death Note and compile it into a single book. With this book in my collection, I will talk about the interesting details of the book and I won’t spoil anything related to the story.

When you buy the book new, it has a promotional sticker attached to the plastic wrap promoting the Netflix movie. The book itself is actually encased in a protective case that helps clear away from dust and keep the pages white.

The white sleeve case displays Light with the characters in front and on the edges, it shows the Shinigami Ryuk staring at you. Once you take out the case, you get the book itself with all the pages compressed and the cross on the cover.

Here comes the meat! The book is very small compared to the other manga I own. According to the description, the manga edition has shrunk to pocket size for easy holding and make it easier than caring it like a VizBig or carrying a case of individual books. I was worried that the book was going to have transparent pages; from I heard, the 3-in-1 of the Dragon Ball manga had issues where the paper was too thin. However, the pages in the manga here wasn’t see through and it felt really fine. The binding of the book is pretty strong and durable! You can turn the page to all the way back to the book or start in the beginning and it doesn’t damage the book. I did look into the book and we do get an Epilogue chapter as promised but the took away the funny comic panels instead. One of the comic that I liked is when Ryuk asks Santa Light for a silver GameBoy Advance SP, but it didn’t show up and I think the only way to see it again is if you have the individual books or the black editions (2-in-1).

Overall, the One-in-All set is perfect for new and old fans. It helps collect the entire story and the price is reasonable. I got my book from Barnes and Noble for $28 online and that was with taxes in it. If you don’t mind having a large pocket as oppose to a manga volume, I would recommend it.

Friday Funny 128: Serving tasty memes better than Pumpkin Spice Latte!

TGIF!

Thank God it’s Friday! Welcome again for another fantastic Friday. I am here to share some nice and tasty memes for this fall season. Today is the last Friday of September and after this weekend, we will be in October, the tenth month. October is a good month because the weather is suppose to cool down and put summer to rest (hopefully! In CA, the weather could be hot and dry or cold and dry.)

You might have noticed the lack of news posts and just posts in general, well I got some life-changing news to share that I have been keeping away for a while. I haven’t said this earlier because life is throwing challenges not only me but also my family. Well, here is the news: My family and I are moving. We are living the city and moving to a more quiet environment. For more than 20 years, we have lived in the city for a while and now, we feel like the city has been too busy and the world has filled with many crazy events. As we move to a new area in California, we hope that life will feel easier and in a calm atmosphere. That is the biggest news in my life. I will try to remind it again for next but next week will probably be busy because I am moving. In both Friday and Saturday, I will be moving. Just in case if things get too hectic, I might not be able to blog until things get settled; however, if there is time to blog, I will be able to talk to you guys. I don’t want to cause panic to any of you if you guys start to wonder. (Not to mention, since my anime and manga is all boxed together, I have to put on a break on my anime viewing.)

In the anime world, precisely Toonami, Tomorrow is the last episode of season 2 Tokyo Ghoul Root A. Next week, the popular series Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans returns to Toonami with an English Dub of Season 2!

With this said, let’s get October ready by raising our flags!

Friday Funny 127: The Fall of Summer

TGIF!

Thank God it’s Friday! Welcome back to another episode of my well famous Friday Funny posts! I am back from vacation and I am here to give you some laughs and some news. Today is the official beginning of the season Fall and the end of Summer. Here in the United States, the weather will get colder and the color of leaves will change and fall down. However, in California, just like my friend Allie says, California is well-known for its bipolar weather where in fall, one day will feel like a comfortable cool day and another day will feel like summer again. As we reach fall, get ready for the upcoming season in October, November, and December! Speaking of change, there is also some upcoming change that will also affect me personally, but I will keep you guys inform probably next week; it will affect my blogging.

Besides that, if you guys seen the horror remake classic It, be cautious of the return of scary clowns at night! If you don’t like clowns, there are some other horror live-action anime movies you can sit and enjoy. You can watch the Netflix Death Note or reserve your ticket to see the live-action movie Tokyo Ghoul. Funimation states that the movie will be in select theaters in October 16 to 22.
