You may already know this but I am a huge fan of Final Fantasy XV. Final Fantasy is my all time favorite video game besides Kingdom Hearts and Sonic the Hedgehog. You might be wondering, “Matt, you always talk about this game and I want to try this but I hear there’s DLC, what should I do?”
I got some exciting news for newcomers and returning fans. Revealed in Twitter by the official Final Fantasy XV account, Square Enix will be re-releasing Final Fantasy XV with all the recent updates from 2017 DLC and new content. The new version is called Final Fantasy XV: Royal Edition. Based on the trailer, this game will be for PS4 and Xbox One. The game will include all the recent DLC episodes (Gladiolus. Prompto, and Ignis) including the Multiplayer Expansion: Comrades; this also includes free updates like the Regalia-D and the ability to change characters in the main game. With an addition, the new version will include a new attack for the Armiger and a an expansion to Insomnia. In the video, playing as the timeskip Noctis, you will be able to explore an all new dungeon in the Ruins of Insomnia and encounter new bosses and view new additional cutscenes in which players will see Cor in his new 10 year skip form!
However, if you already have the game and you don’t want to buy another copy of the game, I got some positive news for you. According to GameSpot, there will be a separate Royal Edition for the PSN and Xbox Store for $20 (this is for the USA and I don’t what’s going to cost at the UK). Buying the physical version of Royal Edition will be $50 or £40 (UK). This new version will have a new cover like above designed by Yoshitaka Amano.
To be honest, I wish this free like how Street Fighter V did it when you already have the game, you can download the free Arcade Edition.
But wait there’s more!
If you want to play Final Fantasy XV but you don’t have a console, but you got a PC, I got some new good news. Already mentioned, Final Fantasy XV will be joining PC. However, also announced on Twitter, the game will also include the recent Royal Edition and all the free past DLCs like the Episodes and Comrades.
According to a Twitter FFXV friend I follow, Maku posted a small graph detailing on the bonus incentives if you preorder Final Fantasy XV PC. Depending where you get the PC game like Windows, Steam or Origins, you will be getting some bonuses.
Final Fantasy XV: Royal Edition and the PC version will be released at the same day on March 6th, 2018!
