Sword Art Online news update: Eir Aoi sings Opening Song for Spinoff

As we are now in March, we are about a month (if you want to get technical, a few weeks) away until we get the spinoff anime Sword Art Online: Alternative Gun Gale Online. Recently, Sword Art Online revealed on another updated news in regards to the anime.

Revealed on the Japanese official Twitter of the anime, veteran anime singer Eir Aoi will be singing the opening song to the spinoff anime. The opening song is titled, “Ryūsei” (Falling Star).

If you haven’t been caught on the news and Sword Art Online, here is what’s going on:

  • Sword Art Online: Alternative Gun Gale Online is a spinoff anime focusing on Gun Gale Online which debuted in the main story of Sword Art Online season 2 in the first 14 episodes.
  • Recently, Eir Aoi came out of hiatus after dealing with some health issues.
  • The spin off anime is planned to come out at April along with other anime titles like Attack on Titan and My Hero Academia (both season 3).
  • The ending song will be sung by Tomori Kusunoki, who is also the voice of the protagonist Llenn. (the name of the song doesn’t have name yet)

  1. Definitely good to see SAO still going strong. I finally got the new Fatal Bullet game recently and it’s been a lot of fun playing through it. Since each arc is in a new game it makes for a lot of fun video game ideas. Hopefully this spinoff game gets its own video game at some point, that’d be pretty meta

    • Yeah it makes me happy to see it still going. I heard about Fatal Bullet and it looks really fun and different. It would be nice to see this spinoff get attention like SAO. I did hear the characters in this spinoff will show up on Fatal Bullet.
