Looks like Spidey won’t be leaving us anytime soon. This spider is here to stay! It’s been announced today that Sony and Disney has settled a deal on Thursday night that Spider-Man will remain in the MCu world with the Avengers. Sony Pictures chief Tom Rothman, Feige and Walt Disney Studios co-chairs Alan Horn and Alan Bergman both discussed about the future movies of Spider-Man and finding his place in the Marvel world and they both settled for an agreement. In the summer, Disney-Marvel wanted a 50/50 on the money earned from Sony instead of the proposed 5%. Now, Disney-Marvel agreed to 25% in which they will earn and they hold the merchandising rights. In addition to the deal, it’s been confirmed that they will be doing a third Spider-Man taking place after the events of Far From Home. This new Spider-Man movie will be in theaters July 16, 2021. Kevin Feige even hinted about Spider-Man appearing in Sony’s own Marvel universe such as Venom.
“I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it. “Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold.”
- Kevin Feige
