January 2020 Funko Pop unbox!

Hey guys welcome back for another Funko Pop unboxing. As a way to start the new year, I purchased some Pops from two different retailers which was Walmart and Hot Topic. From Walmart’s purchase, I bought the Walmart bundle of the movie Spider-Man: Far From Home movie with a retro toy figure along with Aqua from Kingdom Hearts III set.

From Hot Topic, I got two exclusives and regular Pop figure. One is Lea from Kingdom Hearts III with a keyblade and the other is SSGSS (or SSB) Goku. I also bought Kairi to go along with the Kingdom Hearts III collection.

It has been a while since we got an animated Mortal Kombat; the last animated Mortal Kombat is the cartoon series Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm. Announced today in a trailer, the hit video game series will be getting a rated-R animated movie called Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge. According to IGN, the movie will be released on spring 2020 on blu-ray and DVD and it was inspired by 2011’s Mortal Kombat video game; the 2011 video game focuses on the original three Mortal Kombat video games from the 90s.

Here is the synopsis:

“Based on the worldwide hit game created by Ed Boon & John Tobias, Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge spotlights the once-in-a-generation tournament between the champions of Outworld and Earthrealm – a competition that will ultimately determine the fate of Earth and all its citizens. Lord Raiden, protector of Earthrealm, must gather the greatest fighters of his realm to defend it from the evil Shang Tsung in the battle to end all battles – Mortal Kombat!”

The movie was made by the same team who has worked on DC animation movies. The whole cast has been listed and to make this even exciting, IGN reports that Patrick Seitz will be back to play as Scorpion and Kevin Michael Richardson will be back as Goro. Kevin Michael Richardson was the voice of Goro in the live action 1995 movie of Mortal Kombat. Here is the full cast:

  • Joel McHale as Johnny Cage
  • Jennifer Carpenter as Sonya Blade
  • Jordan Rodrigues as Lui Kang
  • Patrick Seitz as Scorpion & Hanzo Hasashi

When it comes to awards, I am always up for a challenge.

The Rules:

  • Display the logo.
  • Thank the blogger that nominated you and share a link to their blog.
  • Answer the questions of the one who nominated you.
  • Nominated 7-10 bloggers.
  • Ask them 7 questions.

Keiko’s questions:

  1. What’s your favourite genre of anime?
  2. Is there an anime you wish you had watched last year but didn’t get the chance to?
  3. If you could have any pet from an anime, what pet would you pick?
  4. Do you prefer watching anime weekly as it comes out or binge watching it once it has finished airing?
  5. What anime from this season surprised you in its first episode?
  6. Is there an anime you were looking forward to this season which left you underwhelmed after the first episode?
  7. Is there an anime character that you feel is similar to you? If so, who?

My Answers:

1. I like action anime especially from Shonen anime like Dragon Ball, One Piece and Naruto. I also have a soft spot for fantasy series like Isekai anime.

2. It’s not a series but I missed out on watching this movie. I really wanted to see Promare. I heard this anime was a combination of Fire Force and Gurren Lagann. I really like Studio Trigger and their worlds like Gurren Lagann and Kill la Kill and I heard the dub for this movie was pretty good.

3. I would want Pina from Sword Art Online. I think it would be cool to have a dragon pet.

4. Out of the two, I would prefer binge watching an anime. I want to sit down and watch through an anime in completion.

5. The anime Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks? definitely surprised me in the first episode. Not only the title caught me off guard but the first episode was really different. I would never imagine seeing an Isekai anime featuring a protagonist and his mom.

6. As far as I know, there hasn’t been any anime that made me feel underwhelmed.

7. I feel like Geomon from Lupin the 3rd is somewhat I feel I can have some similarities. Reason why is because if I am not doing anything, I am just kicking back and making comments and just watching afar. In my blogs, if I feel like writing, I jump right into my lap top and write away. If I am not online, I am away and just enjoying some peace and quiet.
