If you’re a fan Ikki Tousen, Elfen Lied, and Queen’s Blade, I got some unfortunate news for you. According to Anime News Network, the anime studio behind these anime, Arms, has declared bankruptcy. Tokyo Shoko Research (TSR) reported this week that Arms filed for special liquidation on July 22, after deciding on that course of action through a shareholder meeting on May 31.
According to ANN, Arms was found in 1996 and it focused on outside animation work from Pierrot and also did anime collaboration from adult anime companies such as Pink Pineapple and Green Bunny. They started their own anime series in 2004 with the anime Mezzo. The company would later be involved with other anime series such as mentioned from earlier as well as Aesthetic of a Rogue Hero, Samurai Girls and Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid. Their recent anime series they worked on was Ikki Tousen: Western Wolves in 2019. In 2017, they changed their studio’s name from Arms to Common Sense, but they still kept the trademark name for Arms.

I haven’t watched some of these series, but I heard people say the animation and anime were good. I especially heard they did an awesome job on Elfen Lied. It would be a miracle if someone can help pull them out in this situation.
Very sad! I enjoyed Elfen Leid. One of the few who found it ultimately uplifting.
Many people love this anime. One of these days, I will try to watch it. It’s cool how this company worked hard to bring this anime to fans.
