Thank God it’s Friday! Welcome everyone for a fun and scary episode of Friday Funny! If you thought I was going to use “This is Halloween” for the title, you are wrong. Actually, Halloween will be on Saturday, tomorrow! Despite Covid-19, I hope everyone stay safe as they celebrate Halloween. Be careful of germs and make sure you inspect all candy for kids. Having to deal with a virus is one thing, but we can’t let kids ingest deadly drugs in candy. Don’t forget that November 1st is Daylight Savings; we lose one hour and we gain an extra hour of sleep. November 3rd is Election Day and it’s important day for Americans because we have to choose our next leader for 2021. We will either get Donald Trump, Joe Biden or Kanye West. Last but not least, today is the return of The Mandalorian. If you have Disney Plus, Mando is back along with his mission to protect The Child from enemies that wants to kill him and claim the Child. Season 2 will be releasing new episodes every Friday. If you haven’t seen this show and you like Star Wars, go and check out season one before you watch this new one. I did a review on season one if you are curious about my opinion on this show.

3 things about me

  1. When watching anime, I like to take my time and watch a few episodes. If I have free time to kill, I will binge watch maybe 3 or 4 episodes in one sitting.
  2. I enjoy the Mandalorian more than the Sequel Trilogy. I like The Child more than Rey and Kylo Ren.
  3. Spider-Man is my favorite Marvel hero. Venom is my favorite anti-hero and sometimes villain.

Mara’s questions

1. I’ve mentioned what I don’t find cute about characters. What do you think could be lovely of someone?

I think it depends on the character’s personality and actions. Someone can look lovely and cute, but can be a jerk and cold-hearted. Even a strong and able-bodied person can be cute. It’s not about the physical appearance, it’s about their inward personality.

2. If you could choose only one hobby, what would that be?

I would choose gaming. Besides writing, I like to play video games for fun. I love a game that empowers me and entertain me.

3. Past or future?

I am not sure what I am being asked in this question. I am going to assume you mean do I want to go back to the past or fast forward to the future. I think I would go back to the past and enjoy the simple things of the 90s.

4. I’ll take this idea from Irina’s post because it’s lovely: if you were to spend the quarantine with anime/manga/movie characters, who would you choose and why?

I think I would choose Yugi Muto from Yu-Gi-Oh!. If I am going to stuck in quarantine, I would like to play some games to pass the time. It would be cool to learn how to play Duel Monsters and I would love to play video games with him.

5. What advise would you give a baby, if they could remember it?

If I could tell a baby one thing, I would tell them that no matter how old you get, never loose your childhood. Appreciate the fun things in life that makes you happy. Don’t grow up too fast and appreciate the fun moments. If you still like toys, games and cartoons, hold on tight to those things. Keep your fun and happiness close. I guess this was more than one advice.

My best post

One of my favorite posts is when I was talking about escaping reality and entering a world where I wish I could be better than being an average self. I got this idea from my girlfriend in one our conversations and I mentioned I wish I could go anywhere besides this world and feel like I can be super or amazing than my usual self.

Did anyone watch Toonami at Saturday night? This past Saturday, Toonami aired the last episode of the English Dub version of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures Part 5: Golden Wind. Viz teased of an announcement on Twitter after the show has reached its finale. With the anime ended, Viz announced online that they will be working on the English translation to the manga of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Golden Wind. Golden Wind will be released outside of Japan for print and digital in the summer of 2021. If you already have Phantom Blood, Battle Tendency, Stardust Crusaders and Diamond is Unbreakable, you can save your money and add Golden Wind in your collection.

Viz Media Announces Partners for 'Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon' | licenseglobal.com

Hey everyone, I got some exciting news from Viz Media and Funimation. I hope you guys are enjoying the new anime series Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon. It has been reported today from both companies Funimation and Viz Media that this new anime will be receiving an English Dub. Here is the dub cast for the new characters:

  • Towa Higurashi: Erica Mendez
  • Setsuna: Kira Buckland
  • Moroha: Morgan Berry

Friday Funny 288: You Worked Hard, Here is some Choccy Milk

Thank God it’s Friday! Welcome back everyone for another episode of Friday Funny! I hope everyone is doing okay this week and in good health. It’s me, Matthew and I am here to share some wholesome and funny memes to help you relax from life. Before we begin, let’s go over some quick news. This week was the movie release of the anime film Lupin III: The First. The movie was released in theaters in English Dub this past Sunday and it was shown subbed on Wednesday. I saw this movie with my girlfriend on Sunday in dubbed and we were enjoying it. The English Dub was great and the animation in CG was well-done. The epic isekai anime Sword Art Online is coming back on Toonami to wrap up the Alicization cour. Part 2 of War of Underworld is coming to Toonami on November 7th in English Dub. I do bring some bad news in the animation department, it is been reported that in the first time ever, the Charlie Brown Holiday Specials will no longer be on TV; Instead, Apple TV+ will be airing them on their services.

To make matters worse, some Nicktoons cartoons are being transferred from Hulu to CBS All Access. If you want classic Nick cartoons, you might have to use other methods.

Funimtion VA and script writer Jamie Marchi responds criticism on edited English Dubs

Even though the following video is old from 2018, apparently this is becoming new news. The full news can be read at the news site Bounding Into Comics, but apparently, it looks like it is about Jamie Marchi and her response to the criticism towards anime she has been involved, specifically, in the dubbed anime she has worked on. In case you didn’t know, Jamie Marchi is not only a voice actor who voiced characters like Rias Gremory (High School DxD), Mount Lady (Mount Lady), and Lucao (Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid), but she has worked on the script of anime when doing English Dub translations such as Prison School, Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid and My Girlfriend is a Gal. The reason why I am bring up these details is because of a video has been resurfaced online in regarding to Marchi and her position when translating English Dub anime.

A Twitter user uploaded a video featuring Jamie Marchi along with other female voice actors during 2018 Summer SacAnime convention.

During the video a fan asked a question to her about why is Funimation getting criticism when doing the scripts for English Dub. In her words, she states that the reason why Funimation is getting backlash is because it is her gender and she is a woman working in the anime industry.

“Honestly, that’s the truth,” said Marchi. “I am a funny woman. We are all talented, funny, powerful women. We are out here. It is going to happen. Deal with it.”

She also adds on to saying the reason why the fans are angry is because they are sexually frustrated.

“I’m sorry you’re not getting laid, it’s not about you, move on”, said Marchi.

On Twitter recently, Marchi commented on the video saying that the reason why she said those comments in 2018 is because she wants to stand up against these critical anime fans. She mentions she is constantly harassed and even received death threats because of her works. With the constant harassments, she mentions she wants her voiced to be heard loud enough until the online “trolls” are kept silent. That is why you see her more vocal on Twitter whenever you see her tweets.

Funimation VA Chris Thurman claims responsibility for sending explicit pictures to minors

In the anime community, it looks like Funimation will have to say goodbye to a voice actor because of his actions. In case you haven’t been online, voice actor Chris Thurman is in deep trouble. It has been reported by news site Bounding Into Comics, that the voice actor has been sending explicit sexual pictures of himself to underage fans. The news of him started around October 18th, when conversations of him and these underage fans was posted online. In this moment, he mentions that he “unintentional” sent pictures of his genitals to one of his fans. After the conversations was leaked to the public, Chris Thurman took it upon himself and claims responsibility for his actions.

He mentions in his tweet to not harass any collaborators for they were not part of this controversy. According to Bounding into Comics, Thurman was involved in many anime such as My Hero Academia, Tokyo Ghoul:re and Attack on Titan. In One Piece, he voiced the gladiator bull Ulcy during the Dressrosa arc.

Chris Thurman is the second English Voice actor removed from Funimation due to being caught in sexual crimes. The first one was Scott Freeman who was caught in sexual misconduct in 2014. Freeman was the former voice of Issei from High School DxD. According to Bounding Into Comics, despite Freeman doing these crimes, he continued to work with Funimation until 2015 and then Funimation stated they were not aware of his actions.

Great news for Sword Art Online fans! Remember how hype we were when Aniplex was giving us the finale of War of Underworld months ago? If you already seen it, don’t spoil it for dub fans because it has been announced that the second part of War of Underworld will be returning to Saturday night on TV.

Mark your calendars for November 7th, 2020 because Sword Art Online Alicization War of Underworld will be returning in English Dub. Dub fans can finally experience the grand finale of Alicization and sub fans can re-experience epic moments on Toonami. Are you ready for November?

September 2020 Funko Pop Haul

Welcome back for another haul post on my collection of Funko Pops. If you been following me, anytime I collect Pops within a month, I do a special haul post about my recent collection and explain how and where I got them. In this post, I am going to share with you with my figures I collected in the month of September.

60. Fused Zamasu from Dragon Ball Super (Hot Topic Exclusive)

I got this version of Zamasu from shopping Hot Topic online. Honestly, I got him because I need something to add in my cart for free shipping.  I bought this along with a windbreaker jacket of Venom from Marvel. Zamasu is from the anime Dragon Ball Super. This version of Zamasu is when he and Goku Black (a version of Goku where a different Zamasu took over Goku) fused together. Together with the combined powers of a Kai and a mortal Saiyan, they become a dangerous enemy of the dark future of Trunks. However, after dealing with some brutal beatings from Vegito (a fused Potara form of Goku and Vegeta), Zamasu immortal body was unstable and it couldn’t match with Goku Black’s mortal body. The fused body of an immortal and mortal body has made Zamasu a hideous villain.

61-63. Joey Wheeler/Red-Eyes Black Dragon/Jack on angel statue

On a different day, I went shopping at Hot Topic in person and I did some shopping. In my visit, I bought Joey Wheeler and Red-Eyes Black Dragon from the Yu-Gi-Oh! series. If I was going to buy Joey, I had to get his iconic dragon. In the Japanese version Joey’s real name was Jonouchi Katsuya. At the same store, I also got this really big figure of this movie moment Funko figure of a scene from The Nightmare Before Christmas. This movie moment features a sad Jack Skellington with his ripped Santa suit on a statue. This is from a scene where Jack’s plan to take over Christmas fails and he was almost killed by the humans wanting to celebrate Christmas. Jack laments on his failures on this statue that holds him in sadness. This figure is really big and pricy. It cost almost the same price of 2-3 figures.

64. Cara Dune from The Mandalorion

I guess you can’t win some. I order this figure from Walmart online along with another giant figure from the same series. It’s currently delayed, but I placed an order for a giant metallic version of the Mandalorian with the Child. While I wait for this, I got this character, Cara Dune. First introduced in the 4th episode of the series, Mando meets a mercenary named Cara who was once a Rebel Shock Trooper. Together, these two make a great team and they know how to kick butt when fighting the stormtroopers. The actress who plays her is Gina Carano and according to fans, she plays the character quite well and she is also a mixed martial artist. She’s a really awesome character in the show.

Final Evangelion movie will be released in January 2021

Evangelion 3.0+1.0

As we are reaching the ends of 2020, let’s hope 2021 gives us a new beginning. If you are a Neon Genesis Evangelion fan, this news from Crunchyroll will get you excited. It has been announced that the final movie of the Rebuild of Evangelion movie series will be in theaters soon. In a teaser trailer from the movie Demon Slayer the movie Mugen Train, the movie Evangelion 1.0+3.0: Thrice Upon a Time was announced for a release date. In Japan, the movie is set to be released on January 23, 2021.

There is no news on a global release, but we can expect this movie series come to an end in 2021.
