ICYMI: Censorship in Square Enix manga app?

See the source image

I know I’m late to the news, but I feel like bringing it up. When it comes manga, we want to experience whatever Japan is getting. That’s why most of us either pay for it like Shonen Jump or some read from the scan sites. However, according to fans, fans are not liking the tactics Square Enix is doing with their manga. Recently released, Square Enix started this global digital manga service app called Manga UP!. With this app service, fans can pay to read their favorite Square Enix manga such as Soul Eater, My Dress-Up Darling and Fullmetal Achemist. Unfortunately, according to fan’s experiences, the service is off to a bad start. Fans have shown that Manga Up has releasing censored pages of the manga. Characters revealing skin or even full clothed are censored with black bars. Even if a woman is wearing suitable bottom clothes like pants/jeans, black bars will appear around their genitalia area. Fans were enraged to see the over the top censors.

How do you feel about this news?

Friday Funny 380: Superhero 22

TGIF!

Thank God it’s Friday! Welcome everyone for an awesome and hot day today. It’s me, Matthew from Matt-in-the-Hat and I am going to be sharing memes today. Before we begin, let’s go over some San Diego Comic Con news. Marvel been dishing out some major news so you better write these down either on your calendar or renew your Disney Plus account. As of now from Phase 4 to 6, the MCU movies and TV shows from Black Widow to movies in 2025 is known as the Multiverse Saga. If you been watching the movies after Endgame and watch the TV shows, you’ll understand. For this year, get ready for the upcoming TV show, She-Hulk which will air in August 17 this year (same day as my girlfriend). The last MCU movie for this year is going to be Black Panther: Wakanda Forever which will be in theaters in November of this year. Marvel did reveal details on TV shows such as Spider-Man: Freshman Year. Taking place in Spider-Man’s younger years in high school, Peter learns how to be a hero by teaming up with billionaire scientist Norman Osborn. The series will begin in 2024. X-Men ’97 also been announced too and we get to see a new Magneto who will be in charge of leading the X-Men. Marvel Zombies has been revealed too and according to sources, this new show is going to be really dark and gruesome for the young audience. Speaking of X-Men, Marvel announced that you can now watch all episodes of X-Men The Animated Series in chronological order. If you want to watch the series in order by story, you can do it now. I wish Disney did this with Star Wars The Clone Wars.

DC also revealed some movie trailers as well. Besides the upcoming animated movie DC League of Superpets, get ready for some Black Adam and Shazam. Black Adam will be in theaters on October 21, 2022 and the new Shazam sequel, “Shazam!: Fury of the Gods”, is coming to theaters on December 21 this year. DC is dishing out two movies in the last half of 2022 and Marvel is releasing one.

Friday Funny 379: You’re the chosen one

TGIF!

Thank God it’s Friday! Welcome everyone for a hot and brand day. It’s Friday and I hope everyone is staying cool and drinking water. It’s me Matthew and I am here to give you the memes and any news I might have missed or just for recap purposes. Surprisingly enough, I didn’t get the chance to write a lot of news so today, I am going to keep it short today. I can tell you that I been busy these past days with my work and me dealing with power outages in my area. I did get to see Paws of Fury this past weekend. It was funny cheesy movie. Something I expect to see on TV on Nick. In my manga readings, I am currently reading the classic Dragon Ball manga. In my anime time, I been watching Chivalry of a Failed Knight. Speaking of anime news, I did hear that Bleach creator Tite Kubo was going to be involved with the upcoming final arc of the Bleach anime. Fans are speculating that this means we’re going to be getting some extended scenes that wasn’t part of the original manga. In video game news, Platnium Games announced that if anyone wants to play Bayonetta 3 without the hardcore rated M content, there’s going to be an Angel mode where you can play as Bayonetta without having to see a sensitive content. This will be good if you are streaming or don’t want anyone walking in a particular scene.

Let’s do this! It’s my day off today!

Cheers to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge for selling 1 million copies in the first week of launch.

Have fun this weekend!

Anime News: Bleach creator will be involved with final arc of Bleach anime

See the source image

I got some great news for anyone who is pumped for the return of Bleach. Despite the manga being finished a while back, there is still so much going on that not even the manga could contain. Revealed at Anime Expo, Tite Kubo revealed in a video that he will be involved with the anime project. According to Viz Media, Bleach creator Tite Kubo revealed that he he’ll be involved with Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War.

“I think it’s safe to say I’m involved in every step of the process,” Kubo began. “Usually, I’m not one for sticking my nose too far into other adaptations. It kind of feels like I’m taking jobs away from their side. But this time around, I think my involvement, my input will contribute to the fans’ enjoyment, so I’m helping out whenever possible. But the director [Tomohisa Taniguchi] and scenario writer [Masaki] Hiramatsu both have a deep understanding of the series. Thanks to them, my job has been incredibly smooth sailing.”

  • Tite Kubo according to ComicBook.com

In short, while the anime is in works, Tite Kubo is hoping to add more content that wasn’t in the manga, but he will also want to make sure he let other people in the anime studio will still be involved.

The anime will be back on October of this year. How do you feel about Kubo involvement?

Friday Funny 378: Blazing Samurai

TGIF!

Thank God it’s Friday! Welcome everyone for another scorching Friday. I hope everyone is doing okay under the heat. I am going to keep this super short on the news before we jump into the memes. Don’t worry there’s no samurais today, but if you want to watch an animated movie this weekend that’s not Minions or Lightyear, go check out Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank. Originally going to be called Blazing Samurai (title is based on Mel Brook’s Blazing Saddles movie). This past weekend, I saw the movie Thor: Love and Thunder. Honestly, I thought it was a good movie and I think I like it more than Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. I’m on the fence and I think it could be tied. Sad news today, I do want to bring up the harsh news that Yu-Gi-Oh! creator Kazuki Takahashi passed away recently due to a snorkeling accident. He is gone, but his legacy will live on in his works from the classic Yu-Gi-Oh. If you are in a spending mood and you got paid, go check out on Sentai and Rightstuf because they got some major hot sales up to 50% off on select items in the inventory.

Ko-fi

Let’s light it up!

Rest in Peace, Kazuki Takahashi.

Enjoy the weekend!

Fav 4 Anime or Video Game Fighters

I want to thank Roki for tagging me for this tag post. I am sorry it took me a while to get to this project. When in comes to mediums like anime and video games, I like characters who can put up a good fight. Roki did his post and featured characters that can fight well and stand out from the crowd. In a way similar to him, I am going to pick 2 anime characters and 2 video game characters for this post. Originally, I was going to do 4 anime character and 4 game characters, but that would mean I would be breaking the rules.

The rules:

  • Number of entries is up to the blogger
  • Tag as many other bloggers you like

1. Son Gohan (Dragon Ball)

See the source image

See the source image

I choose Gohan to be on this list. Gohan made his appearance in Dragon Ball and in the anime Dragon Ball Z. As much as I love Dragon Ball, Gohan is tied in regards to my favorite character. I like Goku, but Gohan would have to be number one. Started off as a crybaby in the series, Goku’s former foe and now friend, Piccolo took Gohan after Goku sacrificed himself to kill his Saiyan brother Raditz. Piccolo gave Gohan a grueling year of training. As time passed, Gohan warmed up to Piccolo and saw the green warrior as a teacher/father. As time passed, Gohan would later be trained by his father Goku, his friend Krillin and then even Elder Kai. While he may not be a full fledged Saiyan, Gohan went through many rigor training to be at the level with his dad and his mentor Piccolo. With the training of Goku and Piccolo, Gohan is one of few warriors to defend Earth and his family.

2.  Yoruichi Shihōn (Bleach)

See the source image

See the source image

First making an appearance as a male black cat, Yoruichi is a cunning ninja woman who can save Ichigo and his friends in a flash. Don’t let her appearance fool you or otherwise you’ll end up seeing her revealing her female naked body like Ichigo did. She’s not only a fighter, she is also a princess in her clan and one of the four noble family in the Soul Society. While she not may not have a sword like the series, she is expert in speed and fast melee combat. With her Shunko unleashed, she is faster than the speed of light. With the help of her friend Kisuke Urahara, she can use tools and weapons on her enemies and make her hands and feet as weapons. I just had to add her because she is my all time favorite girl in Bleach.

3. Sub-Zero (Mortal Kombat)

See the source image

Jumping into the game world, I am including this icy ninja, Sub-Zero. From the gory game Mortal Kombat, Sub-Zero is a fearsome ninja who can use ice as his weapon and even kill people in a painful experience. As part of the Lin Kuei, he has faced many powerful opponents in the realms. He is sometimes seen constantly fighting with the orange ninja Scorpion from the Shirai Ryu clan. When not fighting with each other, these two put a truce and become a powerful team against the greater evil.

4. Chun-Li (Street Fighter)

See the source image

Last but not least, I’m including the thunder thigh beauty. Chun-Li is from Street Fighter. With her martial arts and sense of justice, she’ll fight crime in the streets and even underground terrorist groups. She never skips leg day and if she traps you in her flurry of kicks, you’re going to have a swollen face. She’s a tough woman, but she has beautiful face. Don’t be on her bad side or else you’ll suffer more than a knock out.

That’s my top 4 characters. Here are some I want to tag if you want to participate. Anyone who is not tagged, can still join in.

Friday Funny 377: Thunderstruck!

TGIF!

Thank God it’s Friday! Welcome everyone for another shocking episode of Friday Funny. I got some exciting recap news for you before we start with the memes. Not to be confused with the AC/DC song, this weekend is the movie release of Thor’s fourth epic movie, Thor: Love and Thunder. This movie is the fourth movie featuring Thor and it’s part of Phase 4 of the MCU. Taking place after the events of Endgame, Thor is trying to seek inner peace, however, there’s a dangerous threat across the galaxy. A villain named Gorr the God Butcher is killing all gods and life. It’s up to Thor to enlist the help of his ex-girlfriend Jane Foster to help combat against the god killing foe. Along the journey, we have Korg, the Guardians of the Galaxy and Valkyrie. We recently had Anime Expo and we got some major news. Bleach is coming back and will be adapting the final arc from the manga. The new Bleach anime is titled Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War and it will be airing this October. Trigun is coming back too with a brand new reboot series made from Studio Orange. The anime Trigun Stampede will be released in 2023. In video game news, we’re getting some new announced games. The Switch will be getting Persona 3, 4, and 5 and we’re getting NieR Automata for the Switch. God of War: Ragnarok is coming this November, just in time for the holidays. The 2012 game Lollipop Chainsaw is coming back and will be remade for this modern day generation. If you’re a fan of this game or you’re like me who missed out, you can expect this game in 2023!

Let’s go mortals!

Cheers to the four films of Thor:

Are you ready for some thunder this weekend?

June 2022 Funko Pop Haul

Hello gamers and collectors! I bring you another Funko Pop haul post. I haven’t been collecting much lately because I am trying to do some late spring cleaning and organize my collection. For this post, it’s going to be really short since I only bought one rare figure.

148. Sonic the Werehog (Sonic the Hedgehog series Hot Topic exclusive)

As soon as I saw this on the Hot Topic website, I just had to get him. As a Sonic fan, this was an offer I couldn’t resist. This version of Sonic is him in his Werehog form from the game Sonic Unleashed. Sonic Unleashed is one of those Sonic games that most fans recommend if you want to experience the speed of Sonic and an epic story. This game was made in 2008 and it came out years after titles such as Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), Sonic and the Secret Rings and Sonic Riders. According to Wikipedia, Sonic Unleashed was going to be a sequel to Sonic Adventure 2 and it was titled Sonic World Adventure, but the team at Sega decided to take a different path for this game. You can play this game even today for for the Xbox Series console and use the backwards compatibility feature. So far there is no update for this game for the PlayStation, PC or Switch unless Sega decides to give this the “Ultimate” treatment like Sonic Colors.

What do you think of the Werehog form? I wish this figure has a flock fuzzy texture.

Sad News: Yu-Gi-Oh! creator tragically died

See the source image

It has come to my attention that I bring you tragic news. According to Japanese public broadcaster NHK, Japanese Coast Guard found a body in the waters in the coast of Okinawa Island of Japan on Wednesday at 10:30 AM. According to the reports, the body was “Yu-Gi-Oh!” creator Kazuki Takahashi. Investigation is in progress, but according to sources, Takahashi was using a rental vehicle and his body was wearing snorkeling equipment. He was alone and a person on a passing boat witnessed the body. According to NBC news, the coast guard commented that Takahashi’s body was damaged as if a marine animal harmed him. As of now, there hasn’t been a full detail on his cause of death.

Kazuki Takahashi passed away of the age 60. His real name Kazuo Takahashi. He created the manga Yu-Gi-Oh! in 1996 through 2004 in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. According to Crunchyroll, he created and supervised the anime movie Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions. Because of the success of his story, the Yu-Gi-Oh! world would later expand into multiple series and spin-offs. He also supervised the manga of Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V in which the story was written by Shin Yoshida and drawn by Naohito Miyoshi. Despite Yu-Gi-Oh!, he also made some One-Shots such as COMIQ which was released in 2018’s Weekly Shonen Jump and he also did a collaboration graphic novel with Marvel and made Secret Reverse featuring Spider-Man and Iron Man.

Friday Funny 376: July 4, 1776

TGIF!

Thank God it’s Friday! Welcome everyone for a brand new day! We are officially in July and you know what this means. For us Americans, it is the Independence Day weekend. July 4 is the special holiday where the citizens of the United States celebrate our independence from Great Britain. The thirteen North American colonies fought hard against the British and on this day, the important document the Declaration of Independence was signed. We celebrate our freedom and we wear our patriot colors (red, white and blue). Besides this holiday, get ready for some movies of this month. Today is the release of Minion: The Rise of Gru, the sequel to the 2015 first Minions movie. Originally, this movie was meant to be in theaters on July 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this movie got delayed and pushed back. If you are not in the mood to take your kid to see Lightyear, take them to see Minions. Next Friday is the fourth Thor movie, Thor: Love and Thunder. Unfortunately, if you have been dying to see two Thor’s, the Guardians of the Galaxy and Christian Bale as Gorr, you will need to wait next week. Speaking of Thor, if you still play the Avengers video game, Jane Foster Thor is the new playable hero. She is a free DLC and she is going to be joining the rest of the Avengers like Iron Man, Black Panther and the original Thor. This weekend is also Anime Expo. If want your 4th of July weekend to be epic and you love anime, go out and be with your anime fan peers and pay a visit to your favorite voice actors and get anime updates.
