If you are a fan Yoko Taro’s game series and you want more NieR, I got some exciting news for you. This past few days, Aniplex hosted a livestream titled Aniplex Online Fest 2022 and showcased the anime adaptation of the popular hack and slash RPG game NieR Automata. The anime will be titled NieR: Automata Ver1.1a. The anime will be animated and produced by A-1 Pictures (according to Kotaku, Hideo Kojima’s favorite anime from them is Lycoris Recoil) According to sources, this anime will be an adaptation to the 2017 game, however, the anime’s story will go through changes. Taro along with his team will be the one who will be taking liberty of the creative process of the anime’s story. In short, this anime’s story is going to be different than what you will expect if you played the games.
Taro’s comment in regards to the “Ver1.1a” title:
“The anime title has the affix ‘Ver 1.1a’ because Nier: Automata was a story we created to be a game, so copying it as is wouldn’t make an interesting story for an anime. So I brought up the idea of changing things around.
“I often see fans who worry that creators are going through their creative process with a complete disregard for the original game. But in this case, those worries have no grounds,” The fact that the anime side, starting with the director, really respected the game struck a chord with me. I’m the one going around and breaking things for [Aniplex]. So, if anyone is dissatisfied [with the anime’s story], it’s likely to be my fault.”
Are you going to be watching this anime series? This anime will be airing in 2023 of January.
If you need more NieR hype, in case you didn’t know, NieR Automata is coming to the Nintendo Switch on October 6th this year. The game is titled NieR: Automata The End of YoRHa Edition.
