It’s been a year since Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was released in theaters. In case you didn’t know, Paramount Pictures recently announced last year that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was the next movie that will be released in 2024. With an addition of a movie, they also announced that they plan to create a Knuckles TV series for Paramount Plus subscribers. It’s been recently confirmed that the Knuckles series has started production. Idris Elba will be returning to voice Knuckles the Echidna and the series will take place after Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3. According to news sites Variety and Deadline, the plot synopsis will be about Knuckles taking Tom’s friend Wade Whipple (Adam Pally) as a protégé and teach him how to be an echidna warrior. Sonic movie director Jeff Fowler and the rest of the creative team will be back for this series and Fowler will helm the pilot episode. Sonic 2 movie writer John Whittington is head writer and also wrote the pilot, and others involved in scripting the series include Brian Schacter and James Madejski. The show will have guest star Rory McCann and Tika Sumpter will reprise as Maddie. Besides these mentioned names, more members such Edi Patterson, Julian Barratt, Scott Mescudi and Ellie Taylor will be part of the show. As of now, there is no release date for the show.
