No more heroes: Netflix cancels The Punisher and will cancel Jessica Jones after Season 3

Where did our heroes? The Marvel heroes of New York are gone and will not be returning on Netflix. Found at IGN, news site Deadline reports that the Marvel Netflix series The Punisher won’t be renewed for another season and it will be cancelled. Likewise, the Marvel series Jessica Jones will also be cancelled, but after season 3 just like Daredevil.

Netflix in regarding to the Punisher:

“Marvel’s The Punisher will not return for a third season on Netflix. Showrunner Steve Lightfoot, the terrific crew, and exceptional cast including star Jon Bernthal, delivered an acclaimed and compelling series for fans, and we are proud to showcase their work on Netflix for years to come.”

Netflix in regarding to Jessica Jones:

“In addition, in reviewing our Marvel programming, we have decided that the upcoming third season will also be the final season for Marvel’s Jessica Jones. We are grateful to showrunner Melissa Rosenberg, star Krysten Ritter and the entire cast and crew, for three incredible seasons of this groundbreaking series, which was recognized by the Peabody Awards among many others.”

Netflix overall response to Marvel:

“We are grateful to Marvel for five years of our fruitful partnership and thank the passionate fans who have followed these series from the beginning.”

TV producer Jeph Loeb who worked on series Jessica Jones and Luke Cage wrote a letter thanking the fans for being supportive. Here is the letter and I will leave the link down below the post:

It had never been done before.

Four separate television series, each with different super-talented showrunners, writers, directors, cast and crew, coming out months apart and then…

…they would meet in a single event series all set in the heart of New York City.

We called them The Defenders.

And together we were thrilled by stories of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and even the Punisher joined in!

They said it couldn’t be done.

But Marvel assembled amazing teams to write, produce, direct, edit, and score 13 seasons and 161 one-hour episodes.

Take a moment and go online and look at the dazzling list of actors, writers, directors, and musicians who graced us with the very best of their craft.

We loved each and every minute of it.

And we did it all for you — the fans — who cheered for us around the world and made all the hard work worth it.

So, Thank You!

On behalf of everyone at Marvel Television, we couldn’t be more proud or more grateful to our audience.

Our Network partner may have decided they no longer want to continue telling the tales of these great characters… but you know Marvel better than that.

As Matthew Murdock’s Dad once said, “The measure of a man is not how he gets knocked to the mat, it’s how he gets back up.”

To be continued…!

– Jeph Loeb and all of us at Marvel Television

With all this said, this is the end of the Defenders. As far as I know, Hulu are in the works of doing four animated series focusing on some Marvel characters such as Howard the Duck and Hit Monkey. Disney+, upcoming Disney streaming service, are planning to do a TV series focusing on Loki and Vision and Scarlet Witch.

Voice Actor Vic Migogna plans to recommit to God

Here is a brief update to the news of Vic Migogna news. Just a heads up, this is all unbiased and objective. I will not voice my opinion. This is what I am hearing from Anime News Network.

With the recent controversy and accusations of voice actor Vic Migogna, Vic Migogna wrote out an updated statement yesterday in regards to these accusations. After being forced to leave Funimation and having voice actress Monica Rial and Jamie Marchi accusing him for harassment, here is what he has to say (it is also on his twitter):

Mentioned in his statement, Vic is planning to recommitting his life to God and he is hoping to seek counselor for his behavior.

Again, I am just sharing you this update about him to you readers. This is all objective.

Hulu is open to Marvel Netflix cancelled series! Possible revival?

There might be hope for fans if Hulu and Marvel agree to cooperate. Last year, it was announced that Netflix cancelled the Marvel series Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. However, with Hulu agreeing to allow more Marvel series to join opposing streaming site and especially since they agreed to do four animated series  based on Marvel characters such as Howard the Duck, it is possible that Hulu could revive these Netflix series.

Craig Erwich, VP of original streaming, made a comment to the Wrap  in regards to Marvel and their cancelled series and Hulu:

“Marvel has a ton of titles we’d be interested in. It kind of just depends on when they’re ready, [and] who, most importantly, is going to be behind these things.”

Overall, Erwich commented that if the team are interested to bringing shows like Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist to Hulu and continuing the series, he will allow it on Hulu if only they are interested. If it goes well for both parties, Hulu will save these shows and expand more content on their site.

What’s your thoughts?

Marvel Hulu plans to make animated series called “The Offenders”

Imagery for “Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K.,” “Marvel’s Hit Monkey,” “Marvel’s Tigra & Dazzler Show,” and “Marvel’s Howard the Duck," who will all team up in "Marvel's The Offenders"

It may not be like the cancelled Deadpool animated series or Netflix Marvel, but it looks like Hulu wants to make a Marvel series exclusively in Hulu. Announced at Television Critics Association Press Tour, Hulu announced that they are teaming up with Marvel and wants to create four animated series based on the Marvel characters M.O.D.O.K., Hit Monkey, Dazzler, Tigra, and Howard the Duck. All four series will also lead to a TV event called Marvel’s “The Offenders”. Here is the four animated series and their synopsis:

Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K.

n “Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K.,” M.O.D.O.K, an egomaniacal Super Villain with a really big head and a really little body, struggles to maintain control of his evil organization and his demanding family. “Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K.” comes from writers Jordan Blum and Patton Oswalt, with Blum, Oswalt and Jeph Loeb serving as Executive Producers.

Marvel’s Hit Monkey

“Marvel’s Hit Monkey” tells the tale of a wronged Japanese snow monkey, mentored by the ghost of an American assassin, as he cuts a wide swath through the Tokyo underworld in this darkly cinematic and brutally funny revenge saga. “Marvel’s Hit Monkey” comes from writers Josh Gordon and Will Speck, with Gordon, Speck and Jeph Loeb serving as Executive Producers.

Marvel’s Tigra and Dazzler Show

In “Marvel’s Tigra & Dazzler Show,” two woke Super Heroes and best friends, Tigra and Dazzler, fight for recognition among powered people who make up the eight million stories in Los Angeles. “Marvel’s Tigra & Dazzler Show” comes from writers Erica Rivinoja and Chelsea Handler, with Rivinoja, Handler, and Jeph Loeb serving as Executive Producers.

Marvel’s Howard the Duck

Trapped in a world he never made, America’s favorite fighting fowl Howard the Duck hopes to return home with the help of his unstoppable gal pal Beverly before the evil Dr. Bong can turn him the crispiest dish on the menu, in “Marvel’s Howard the Duck.” “Marvel’s Howard the Duck” comes from writers Kevin Smith and Dave Willis, with Smith, Willis, and Jeph Loeb serving as Executive Producers.

So far there is no expected release date for these four series, but if you got Hulu and you want to laugh at some Marvel characters, you might want to keep your eyes peeled for this one.

Vic Mignogna no longer involved with Funimation

If you are aware about the Vic Migogna controversy and the tweets #IStandWithVic or #KickVic, I bring some news from Funimation.

In a tweet sent by Funimation, Funimation announced that the team will no longer be involved with the voice actor for future projects. This means that Vic won’t be lending his voice for anime from Funimation and any current anime that has him in it, will also be recasted. It’s been announced that the anime Morose Mononokean season 2 will replace his character.

If you don’t know the controversy, it happened around after the movie release of Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie. News have spread that the voice actor has been giving unwanted hugs and kisses to his fans and the fans believed it was harassment. These allegations happened in 2008 however! Unfortunately, because this news is showing up, Rooster Teeth fired the voice actor from the series Rooster Teeth as he played as a character named Qrow.
