Happy 30th Anniversary Dragon Ball Z – My top 5 characters I wish to see canon in Dragon Ball

See the source image

Remember the news that Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama was involve with making the movie Dragon Ball Super: Broly? Because of his involvement, fans rejoiced and saw that after all these years, the antagonist Broly was going to be canon and be part of the Dragon Ball universe. Not only him, but we also get see characters like Bardock, Gogeta and even Goku’s mother Gine as canon; Gine first made her appearance in the manga Jaco: The Galactic Patrolman manga in a special chapter called Dragon Ball Minus. This is could be good or bad news since this means that Toriyama retconned the story. Meaning, we don’t see Bardock’s old friends from the movie Bardock: The Father of Goku or we don’t see his Super Saiyan transformation Episode of Bardock. Regardless of the changes, fans was still happy to see these characters canon and part of the main story. Just like I mentioned before with Bardock, this also means that Toriyama changed Broly. In the DBZ movies, Toriyama did designed Broly but he wasn’t part of the past movies and Broly was just another noncanon villain in the DBZ movies like Cooler or Lord Slug. Broly made more appearances in three movies due to popularity and seeing him come back as canon, he is involved with the main story. Now here is the main topic of this post: What if Toriyama said today that he wanted to do another Dragon Ball movie and bring back and character that was originally noncanon? What if Dragon Ball Super comes back and he wants to reintroduce a character he designed and be in the Dragon Ball Super? I have five characters in my mind that I would love to see return. These characters are from the past DBZ movies and filler arcs of Z. This is also a tribute to the 30 years of the Dragon Ball Z anime! Happy Anniversary Dragon Ball Z and thank you for the characters and story!

*Warning: Spoilers!

5. Pikkon (Dragon Ball Z)

See the source image

Remember that epic fight with Goku and Hit in Dragon Ball Super where Goku used Kaioken and Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan together? Before that happened, Dragon Ball veterans saw something similar in the classic Dragon Ball Z anime. In Dragon Ball Z, this anime did have filler that was not part of the original manga. Taking place after the events of the Cell Games, Goku is dead and rather than training with King Kai, he decides to part in tournament where all the Kais come together and pit their strongest warriors and see who is the strongest, in thus this leads to the Other World Tournament episodes.  In this filler, Goku and Pikkon are faced against each other and both are equally matched. Despite Pikkon being stronger than Frieza and even Cell, Goku has an ace up his sleeve. He transform into Super Saiyan and mixed his attacks with Kaioken for a boost.

What I am trying to say is that even though Pikkon is not noncanon, I did like him and I really like the friendship with him and Goku. I am also impressed how strong he is. It was mentioned in Bio Broly that when Broly died, King Kai wanted Goku and Pikkon stop Broly rampaging in the Other World. If Pikkon ever comes back, I would love to see him Super where Goku could team up with Goku and fight with dead warriors for training.

4. Tapion (Dragon Ball Z: Wrath of the Dragons)

See the source image

He didn’t show up in the filler episodes but he appeared in the noncanon Z movies. Tapion is a new character introduced in the movie Dragon Ball Z: Wrath of the Dragon,. He is a mysterious hero who is on a quest to prevent the powerful monster Hirudegarn from destroying the world. I pick him because I like friendship between Kid Trunks and him. In the movie, Trunks becomes interested in him and sees that looks like a very cool hero and Tapion soon begins to like him since he reminds him of his younger brother who helped prevented the rampaging monster from rampage years ago. In the end of the movie, the monster slain and as Tapion returns him home, he gives powerful sword to Trunks. In the credits, we see Trunks wielding a sword and slaying Frieza after the events in Namek. I would love to see Toriyama bring back Trunks again and go over the details on how did he get the sword. I could possible see him referred or at least explained in a movie focusing only on Trunks.

3. Bojack (Dragon Ball Z: Bojack Unbound)

See the source image

Remember this muscled green giant? Dragon Ball Z: Bojack Unbound introduced Bojack and his minions and we got see how scary they are. It is mentioned by King Kai that all four Kais sealed Bojack and his servants because they were evil and they had too power to be stopped in the galaxy; however, after King Kai died from Cell because of Goku, the seal is broken Bojack and his crew escapes and decides to have fun by attacking Earth. With Goku out of the picture, it’s up to Gohan and the Z-Warriors to stop him. If Bojack ever comes back, I would love to see him in the sequel/Dragon Ball Super anime. In the manga, DBS is still going and Goku and Vegeta are faced against a powerful energy stealing foe called Moro and the only one who can match against him is Majin Buu. What if while Goku and Vegeta are away, what if there is new threat and Gohan is Earth’s last resort. It was mentioned a while back that Toriyama planned to have Gohan to be the main protagonist in Dragon Ball Z when it first started, but then he became a side character since fans loved Goku more than Gohan. I would love to see Gohan in action and show fans that he still the same kid who once saved the world from Cell. He did come back strong in Dragon Ball Super in the last arc, but I would like to see him fight in a battle of life and death in the same way in Android Saga.

2. Slug (Dragon Ball Z: Lord Slug)

See the source image

Goku can’t catch a break with evil Namekians. In Dragon Ball Z: Lord Slug, Goku and his friends must stop the evil Namekian Lord Slug from freezing the planet. In a similar way like Evil King Piccolo in the Dragon Ball classic anime, Goku is faced against a young Lord Slug in his prime and just like King Piccolo, he is evil to the core and will do what it takes to kill anyone stopping his goals. Goku barely made it out alive when he almost tapped into a Super Saiyan form and Gohan using his whistling skills to weaken Slug. Just like my point with Gohan and Bojack, what if the earth needed Piccolo’s protection. I could see an arc in Dragon Ball Super where Piccolo teams up with Gohan and fight against Slug. Not only Piccolo would get the spotlight, but I would love to see the teacher-student relationship with Gohan and Piccolo.

1. Cooler (Dragon Ball Z: Cooler’s Revenge)

See the source image

Just like Broly, Cooler is another movie character that gets a lot of popularity from Dragon Ball Z fans. Cooler made his appearance in the movie Dragon Ball Z: Cooler’s Revenge and then came back again as a metal version called Metal Cooler in Dragon Ball Z: The Return of Cooler. Cooler is the older brother of Frieza and just like him, he is heartless. He comes to Earth to find the one who killed his brother and he is not doing this to avenge him, he wants to kill to honor the family and his own pride. It’s mentioned in the movie that he was already planning to kill Frieza to shut him up. Cooler will go beyond and even try to kill Goku’s friends in order to see him go mad. Cooler has gotten a lot attention even in the video games that he was added in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3 in the PS2 and he came back in the Dragon Ball Heroes anime spinoff where he learned how to transform into Golden Cooler. He is also a DLC character in FighterZ along with Broly and Bardock. In Dragon Ball Super, he doesn’t show up at all and the only Frieza-like character we got was Frost in Universe 6. I would love to see story focusing on Frieza and his race. We could learn about his relationship with his brother and his father King Cold.

That’s my top 5 characters I want to see canon in Toriyama’s movies and Dragon Ball Super. What about you guys? Do you have any characters that you want to be canon? Comment down below.

(*Update 3/27/19*) Kameha Con drama: Vic is in, DB staff is out?!

UPDATE 3/27/19

Besides Vic Migogna and Tiffany Vollmer attenting Kameha Con, it’s been announced that more classic Dragon Ball voice actors will be attending this upcoming April. It’s been announced that Elise Baughman (voice of Pan from Dragon Ball GT), Rick Robertson (voice of Dabura), Chuck Huber (voice of Android 17, Garlic Jr., Emperor Pilaf), Laura Steele (Young Krillin in Dragon Ball) and Stephanie Nadolny (Gohan and kid Goku in the classic Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball and GT) will be attending this convention. Chuck Huber will only appear on Friday, April 12th.

This is an intense battle between Dragon Ball fans and voice actors for this upcoming Kameha Con. Kameha Con is an unofficial convention dedicated to Dragon Ball fans. Not only fans of the series meet up and express their interests in the series, but voice actors for the series such as actors like Chris Sabat participates and meets the fans. However the news I am about to present may either influence you to visit or not and cancel plans. Beyond this post, I am not going to share my opinions. It will be objective.

It’s been announced that the veteran voice actor Vic Migogna, who voiced Dragon Ball characters Broly and Burter (in Dragon Ball Z Kai version), was re-invited to Kameha Con. As most anime fans know, Vic Migogna has been accused for sexual harassment and assault according to his fans. Based on reports from voices of the fans, he gave unwanted hugs and kisses. However, according to other fans that defend him, these reports are likely false because of lack of evidence and reports. Regardless, despite whether they are true or false, Vic has been fired from Rooster Teeth and will not be voicing Qrow from RWBY. He also been fired from Funimation as well. Vic has been removed by a majority of upcoming conventions However, some cons like Kamehame Con and HawaiCon are giving Vic a chance and some believe he’s innocent.

For Vic fans or I Stand With Vic fans, this is good news and they are happy to see Vic getting respect and seeing how some people defend and believe he’s innocent. However, this also brings in bad news for the ones who oppose this. The Kick Vic fans, people who believe Vic is guilty, disapprove this idea because not only they don’t like Vic, but this also leads to cancelled plans for the voice actors. It’s been confirmed that voice actors Monica Rial (voice of Bulma from Dragon Ball Super and Z Kai), Daman Mills (voice of Frieza and Monoka in Dragon Ball Super. He voiced Frieza temporary because Chris Ayres was ill), Josh Grelle (voice of Grand Minister) and Jason Douglass (the voice of Beerus) cancelled their plans.

However, there is one guest that is making an appearance and classic fans will always remember her as Bulma.  Tiffany Vollmer will be joining Kameha Con with VIc Migogna. Tiffany voiced Bulma in the classic anime of Dragon Ball, DBZ, and Dragon Ball GT.

Kameha Con will be on April 12th-14th.

Jump Force news: More Yugi pics and HxH characters join the fray!

Hello anime fans! I bring you good news in the world of anime and video games! Remember the old news when I mention Yugi from Yu-Gi-Oh! was going to be in the upcoming game Jump Force? I got an update revealing that Yugi will have the ability to summon his iconic monsters to assist him battle. Based on the pictures online, he will be using Dark Magician, Dark Magician Girl and one of the Egyptian God Monsters Slifer the Sky Dragon. Bandai Namco hasn’t reveal any information on the gameplay, but I would use you could swap out monsters and each one has their own fight style and Slifer might be an ultimate attack.

Another important news is that we are getting more new characters in the game and they are from Hunter x Hunter. Revealed online, Gon’s friends Killua and Kurapika are joining the fight. Either you want to play as an assassin or a fighter seeking to avenge the Kurta Clan, these kids mean business.

Last but not least, it’s confirmed that Goku’s transformation SSGSS (Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan) or Super Saiyan Blue will be used. If you think Super Saiyan isn’t enough, use this form. Super Saiyan Blue made it’s first appearance in the movie Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ and it made more appearances in the TV series Dragon Ball Super.

What do you think about the news?

Dragon Ball Super Broly movie discussion: Predictions, Theories and Possibilities!

Hello everyone! I hope everyone is having a nice day today in the internet world. As we are in September, get ready to enter the fall season. Coming in fall, we have the remastered movie of the classic fan favorite Dragon Ball Z movie Dragon Ball Z: The Legendary Super Saiyan Broly in select theaters. The movie will be playing in September 15th and 17th. More Dragon Ball Z movies and specials are coming this fall in November and they are called, Fusion Reborn (12th movie) and Bardock: The Father of Goku (TV special). You might be wondering why are these movies chosen and are premiering in theaters. Before I tell, let me what’s the special occasion with these DB movies. It’s been announced that there is going to be a Dragon Ball Super movie this late 2018 and early 2019 (Japan will have it on December and North America is on January). The movie is titled Dragon Ball Super: Broly and according to resources, Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama will be involved with the movie and that also means that the fan favorite antagonist Broly will finally be canon to the series.

Masako Nozawa in Doragon bôru chô: Burorî - Dragon Ball Super: Broly (2018)

With this said, this is what I want to talk about. I want to talk about the things I noticed with the Dragon Ball Super movie and what I think what we should expect from the things happening around us. First off, let’s talk about what is this movie about. According to the trailer, the story takes place after the last episode of Dragon Ball Super where the Tournament of Powers is over and Goku and his friends are living in peace. The peace is suddenly over when Goku and Vegeta meets a mysterious group led by Paragus and his son Broly. Broly is sent to fight both Goku and Vegeta and surprisingly overwhelms them with his power. It’s also hinted that Frieza gets involved too fighting the monster Saiyan. We do see some glimpse  of the Saiyan Race when we see some babies and other Saiyans.

A movie like this sure gets any Dragon Ball fan excited. For me, I am hyped for 2019 with this movie and I have all the time to wait. While I wait, I took the time to watch this trailer and also research the past Dragon Ball Z movies. After going over stuff, I feel like the new Dragon Ball Super film is going to borrow key elements from these past movies and specials. Here is the breakdown from my information gathering skills:

Dragon Ball Z: Broly the Legendary Super Saiyan – Broly and Paragus is back!

Obviously shown on the title, Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie will have the characters Broly and Paragus and they will officially be canon. Instead of using the same designs from the DBZ movie, Toriyama decides to update and modify the designs of both Broly and Paragus. Seen in the video and pictures, Broly appears with a”barbarian” appearance by donning the Saiyan armor with a fur pel belt. Paragus stll has the scar, damage eye like in the old movie, but appears very old with gray hair and a long beard. It is also shown in the video that he tells Broly to go and attack without any mind device suppressing his rage. It could be possible that Paragus can control Broly. Overall with this point, DBS: Broly and DBZ Broly will still retain the same characters but with updated appearances.

Bardock: The Father of Goku – Possible history on the Super Saiyan God?

Bardock: The Father of Goku is a TV special which tells the back story about Goku’s father Bardock and he saw a vision about the fate the Saiyan race and how Frieza was going to rise and then fall by the hands of Goku.

I feel like this is another thing to point because I feel Dragon Ball Super: Broly is probably give in depth about the Saiyans past and might even mention about Friez’a hate towards the Sayians. Going back to an old post I wrote about the movie announcement, it is hinted that the Dragon Ball movie will be discussing about the Saiyan’s true power. According to Toei Animation site, the new movie theme will be about “the origin of the Saiyan’s power and what it means to be a Saiyan.” It got me thinking, what if we get to learn about the Super Saiyan God as well. It was mentioned in the Battle of Gods movie that a group of Saiyans work together and channeled their energy into one Saiyan that warrior became a Super Saiyan God. The Super Saiyan God was very powerful, but the warrior lost its power and disappeared. Here’s another what if scenario. What if Paragus tried to turn Broly into a Super Saiyan God?We know that Broly is a powerful warrior born with a high power level and was able to transform into a Super Saiyan really early. In the DBZ movie, Paragus used his son’s powers to bring fear other planets and even tried to kill Vegeta in acts of revenge against his father, King Vegeta. What if in DBS Broly, Paragus tried to experiment and use his own son to gain the Super Saiyan God powers? As usual with Frieza, he destroyed the Saiyan race and the planet because he saw how powerful Saiyans get and was afraid they would overthrow him.

Fusion Reborn – Possible new SSB Gogeta?

Last but not least, we have the Dragon Ball Z movie Fusion Reborn. Fusion Reborn is the 12th movie in the series which tells the story about Goku, Vegeta and Pikkon fighting against an evil dimensional warrior named Janemba who is wrecking havoc in the Other World where the dead is among the living. Janemba get so strong that not even Goku and Vegeta could take him on by themselves. The ace in the card is where Goku and Vegeta performs the Fusion dance and become Gogeta and defeats Janemba.

As far we know, Goku and Vegeta are going to be the known Z-Fighters to fight against Broly. I have my specualtions after reading a fellow blogger’s post named bookishnerdygirl who found some interesting information about upcoming updates to Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. According to her blog, she found out some information stating that Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 will be adding some more DLC for the game. It’s hinted that DBS version of Broly will be in the game, but it sounds like a “new form” of Gogeta appear in the game. It could be possible that Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie will include Gogeta or for the most part Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta. Gogeta is a powerful warrior because it’s the fused form of Goku and Vegeta who known as the strongest Saiyans on Earth. Besides the DBZ movie, Gogeta doesn’t get much attention unless you play the video games. If Gogeta does appear in this new movie, he will be canon to the series and we might see some new powers like obtaining SSB. In a sidenote, Goku and Vegeta has fused before but with the Potara earings fusion and became Vegito due to circumstances. They became Super Vegito when fighting against Majin Buu (or known as Super Buu) in DBZ. They brought back Vegito and gave him the Super Saiyan Blue in Dragon Ball Super when they fought against the fused villain Zamasu (fused by Zamasu and Goku Black).

Conclusion: Long Story Short

With this extensive information, here is my possible prediction to Dragon Ball Super: Broly. The new movie will be borrowing elements from past movies and will incorporate something entirely new to fans. We will be getting Broly and Paragus in Toriyama’s involvement. We might get more information about the Saiyans, Super Saiyan God and maybe about Frieza’s involvement with the Saiyans. We could see a possible chance of having Gogeta on the big screen and being part of the main story. Maybe the reason why these two movies and special is being brought back to theaters to help refresh the memories of fans and give us hints of possiblities in the new DBS movie.

What do you think about this? What’s you opinion about Dragon Ball Super: Broly? Do you have any predictions or theories you want to bring up? Comment down below.

Escape to the Great World of Anime!

You might be wondering the title and the purpose of this post, there’s a funny story behind this. I am good friends with my anime and colleague friend Allie from Visionaries and we whenever we text each other, we have a really long conversation on anything. Whether it is anime, cartoons and just life, we can go on for hours; however, one day, we had an interesting topic in which also inspired me to write this post. As usual we were talking about anime and how much it would be cool to leave reality and jump into our favorite anime. He texted me this comment but she called it a “rant”:

Go on some sort of adventure become our own heroes. Live in a world where we can be us and that’s good enough. Where words only positivity and people look on the bright side instead of dwelling on the negative. To face their problems instead of keeping them bottles up until they explode :). Oh the naive mind is back to reality now.

This got me thinking, if it’s possible to leave reality for a day and enter any world in the anime I seen is, I would do it. Some people might agree with me in this comment especially if you like anime. Most of us had this deep wish where we can have the ability to go our favorite anime. After hearing her say this, I added my own comment to hers and I told her why I want do it if I could jump into anime:

I would love to visit that world. Take me to Sword Art Online and let me go on quests or Yu-Gi-Oh! and let me duel with my monsters. Take me to a world where my average “me” can be greater. 😀

This may sound silly the way I said it but wouldn’t it be awesome? Imagine leaving your average or boring life for a day, months or whatever time you desire and escape to somewhere where you are the hero or at least feel important. Basically, what I am saying is this: if there was a way to enter a world where you leave your dull life and enter a new world where you can live your favorite anime world or worlds, would you do it?

Personally, I would. In my daily life, I usually live just an average routine where I watch anime or just do my daily chores. Whenever I see anime characters in action or doing something exciting, I get envious. Like a kid who wants to be their favorite superhero, I like to dream and wanting to be something great like my favorite characters. If I can jump into worlds of anime, I would be hero in Dragon Ball Z, travel  and enjoy solitude in Sword Art Online, or even obtain some powerful beings in Yu-Gi-Oh!.

The anime world is more bizarre than JoJo’s Bizarre Aventure but that’s okay, it just means the norm is the oddities itself like the anime Durarara!! Can it be dangerous? Yes! Will you survive? Of course if you have the right skills and ideal anime.

If somehow or someone came to you and asked if you could jump into any anime world you desire, where would you go?

If there was a rabbit hole like Alice in Wonderland where anime logic exist and all reality doesn’t, would you dig deeper?

Or better yet, if there was a door and it says “door way to anime”, would you open that door and not look back?

What would you do and where do you want to go?
