[OWLS December Blog Tour] Final Fantasy XV – Noctis, the Miracle King sacrifice in the dark world

Miracle

Tis the season where miracles happen. For December’s theme, we will be exploring faith in anime and pop culture. We will discuss some of the miracles that enter a character’s life during their darkest moments. Some of their questions we will explore is how does a “miracle” change a person’s life? How do we define miracles? Can miracles only happen due to a legend or a mystical being? Or do miracles happen every day, but we just don’t see it? We hope that you enjoy this holiday season! Happy Holidays! –  the OWLS Team ❤

Please be sure to read Karandi’s post. The next person to do their post on this topic is Carla.

*Will contain spoilers for Final Fantasy XV.

FFXV Episode Ardyn anime prologue announced and release date!

Hello everyone, this is your FFXV fanatic friend Matthew in another exciting post in regards to Final Fantasy XV. As we reach 2019, get ready for some new stuff coming up. I mentioned this but I will remind you guys, that the next DLC for Final Fantasy XV will be called Episode Ardyn and it will focus on the villain’s backstory before Noctis was the focus and we see a young King Regis. However, even though the DLC won’t be out until March, Square Enix has an appitizer for you potential Ardyn fans. It’s been announced by Final Fantasy that there will be anime prologue focusing on Ardyn. So before you play Episode Ardyn in March, tomorrow you can watch an anime special which shows about Ardyn’s life and his brother Somnus before the game story.

Depending where you live, you can catch this anime tomorrow at your timezone. This anime is called Final Fantasy XV: Episode Ardyn – Prologue -.

This is not the first time Square Enix did an anime on Final Fantasy XV. There is also an anime called Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV in which focuses on Noctis’s friends and how they cross paths and form bonds before starting the adventure.

Final Fantasy x Terra Wars Collab Quest “Close Encounter of the Terra Kind” Review

Better late than never. In this review, I am going to be talking about a previous event about a Final Fantasy XV crossover. This crossover is about Noctis encountering a girl named Sarah from the upcoming RPG moble game Terra Wars created by Hironobu Sakaguchi’s Mistwalker Corporation. This crossover also included Shadow of the Tomb Raider gear for the player’s female custom character in Comrades. For this review, I am going to be talking about this Terra Wars review and my thoughts. It will have spoilers, so watch out.

How to get this collab quest?

It’s pretty simple to get access to it. In order to team up with Sarah and take on this quest, you need to reach chapter 5 of the main game. It will show up in your map and you have the option to do it. Once you do it and get to the location, quest will begin and you will be placed in a separate story.

Story: Meeting Sarah and the Hiso Aliens

The quest begins with Noctis waking up to a mysterious world and meeting Sarah. At first, Noctis thinks that Sarah is the one that brought him into this world, but what’s more surprising is that Sarah was going to ask the same thing to him. It turns out that these two characters were summoned by a Hiso Alien Elder who is seeking help to save their world from a powerful evil force called the Eroder. The Eroder is trying to destroy worlds and make its own “perfect” world. It’s up to Noctis to team up with this new ally and save the Hiso Alien world.

Characters: Sarah, Hiso Alien, the Eroder, Grumpy Noctis

The new character introduced to this quest is Sarah and she becomes Noctis partner. Sarah, unlike Noctis, is an adventurous girl who can be a bit clumsy and more expressive towards others. In contrast with her, Noctis feels more of a kill joy who takes things seriously. He complains to her when she makes a mistake like almost getting herself killed, didn’t like it when the Hiso children played with him and was very skeptic about the idea of meeting an alien. Overall, Noctis acts serious and negative, but then later changes when as he works together with Sarah. In the later half of the adventure, Noctis admires her fighting style and he thinks of her as a good partner. The Hiso aliens are cute little aliens that only say “Hiso Hiso” and the only one that understands them is Sarah. These characters play a key role to the quest. There’s not much details about them except the fact that you need to help them. The antagonist villain starts off looking like a evil Hiso Alien, but then reveals itself as a dark energy force that can copy someone’s appearance and powers and incorporate their powers to the new host. The Eroder imitates Sarah’s appearance and becomes an evil copy of her and by using her body and its powers, it challenges Noctis and Sarah.

Review

This overall collab quest was fun and funny, but really short and linear. It doesn’t matter if you beat main game and visited this quest as level 99, you are going to be playing this game in a set level and already equipped weapons. Instead of using your Engine Blade, you will be given the Rune Blade and other already set weapons like the lance and daggers. You can also get the royal weapon Blade of the Mystic by giving the Hiso Aliens the right healing items. With these weapons, it’s pretty obvious that you can’t use magic. The gameplay is very simple and the combat style with Noctis and Sarah is quite enjoyable. I did like the interaction with Noctis and Sarah how they became from acting like strangers to comrades. I really like the Hiso Aliens. My weakness is cuteness so I did enjoy hearing them and I also like playing as Sarah for a bit and catching them. The Eroder was pretty interesting, but I can’t help but think of the Dragon Ball Super villain Zamasu Both villains want to seek a perfect world and they end up stealing a body for power. I guess you can say that the Eroder is pretty cliche at the most. Like I said, the world feels pretty linear so it’s impossible to get lost and it leaves very little exploration unlike most events such as the Assassin’s Creed crossover and the Chocobo-Moogle Carnival. In combat wise, I really like the combination attacks and I wish this quest had many fight moments. The ending of the quest was pretty funny and cute and I like seeing Noctis express more emotions when he is feeling flustered or embarrassed.

Overall

So, what’s my overall opinion? This quest was fun and I wish it would have been expanded more. It has a nice story and I really like the character interactions with the main characters. I feel like this game was more about focus on the story and characters than on gameplay. I really loved Sarah and I thought her character was more interesting than Lunafreya. It’s a shame she only appears on this quest because I would love for her to meet Noctis and his friends in his world or have Noctis visit her world. The villain’s role in this game feels a bit underwhelming and the only reason its important because it’s part of the quest. The rewarding part about completing this quest is that you get to unlock the exclusive weapon, Sarah’s Sword. This quest is free to try out and you can get this during chapter 5. What’s your thoughts on this collaboration?

New Leader for FFXV studio “Studio Luminous Productions”

Remember the old news that Hajime Tabata left the studio “Studio Luminous Productions”? Just in case you didn’t, hear is the news: It was announced in November that game director Hajime Tabata left Final Fantasy XV and his team and this led a chain reaction where Square Enix decided to cancel out many of the game’s anticpating contents. These contents was going to be more DLC episodes for Final Fantasy XV. These DLC were Episode Ardyn, Lunafreya, Aranea and Noctis. However, since Square Enix decided to cut some of the DLC, the only one remaining was Episode Ardyn which will be released in March 2019.

Recently announced today from Dual Shockers, there might be hope. A new person joins the game’s team Studio Luminous Productions and becomes the head of the team; his name is Takeshi Aramaki and he is FFXV lead programmer and he will be in charge of the studio.

On the official website of Studio Luminous Production, here is what Takeshi Aramaki said in regards to the position:

I’m Takeshi Aramaki, VP of Development at LUMINOUS PRODUCTIONS. I had the honor of being the lead programmer for FINAL FANTASY XV. In developing FFXV, we meticulously pursued the potential of games, from the open world system to the application of emotion-filled AI. This philosophy is ingrained in our staff and LUMINOUS ENGINE, our proprietary creative toolset, and continues to grow each day. We are currently making steady progress on a brand new title. We cannot wait to show you, and we hope that you look forward to its reveal.

Takeshi Aramaki

Still, I don’t want to give people high hopes of bringing back these cut DLC, but I am just here to say it might be a possibility that there will be more fun coming for FFXV.

According to Darin De Paul, he mentioned that next year get ready for the upcoming DLC story Episode Ardyn and there is a plan of an anime based on Ardyn in 2019.

I am so happy to be a fan of Final Fantasy XV and I don’t regret it at all. I will stand tall! Here are some saved pictures I found from Final Fantasy XV to celebrate the two years of Final Fantasy XV!

Last but not least, I am on my 91st streak post.

Final Fantasy XV 2nd Anniversay news – Good and Bad news

Hey everyone, I am back again with some fresh Final Fantasy XV content. As a fan, I really love the characters, story and gameplay. The team behind the game hosted a livestream to celebrate the two years of the game’s release last night. Whether you love it or hate it, it’s worth talking about. I am here to bring you good and bad news for the news in regards to Final Fantasy XV. I will start with the good news. There might be some spoilers from here on out.

Good news

Episode Ardyn – March 2019

Square Enix just unvieled a short trailer on the upcoming DLC episode, Episode Ardyn. If you don’t know who is Ardyn, Ardyn is the game’s main antagonist. He first starts off as a shady character who helps Noctis whenever he is in a pinch in the story. He is also the ambassador to the enemy kingdom, Niflheim. It is mentioned in the story that Ardyn is immortal and wants revenge against the Astral and Lucian bloodline. In this new DLC, Episode Ardyn will explore Ardyn’s past life when he meets Noctis father’s Regis and his encounters with the Empire. We also get a glimpse of his brother Somnus. Episode Ardyn is expected to be released on March 2019.

Standalone Comrades game 12/13/18

If you didn’t know, Final Fantasy XV released a while back that they had an online gaming service called Final Fantasy XV Multiplayer Online: Comrades. Comrades is part of the main game story where players create their own character and participate in missions on the quest to restoring the light of the world. The online game can only be played through the FFXV main game. Now, this online game can be purchased without Final Fantasy XV as a stand alone video game. This standalone game will be released on December 13th of this year with added content. This is only for PS4 and X1.

Final Fantasy XV x Final Fantasy XIV collab – 12/13/18

Get ready for another collab! Coming out this same month as Comrades, Final Fantasy XV has partnered up with Final Fantasy XIV for a crossover event in the main game; it will happen as a free update. This new event will be called “Adventurer from Another World” and Noctis will team up with a character named Y’jhimei and take on the Garuda. Players will be rewarded with a FFXIV themed costume.

With all this good news finished, here comes the bad news.

Bad news

Game Director resigns and leaves

Luminous Productions COO and Final Fantasy XV game director Hajime Tabata resigns and leaves the team. He was in charge of the game Final Fantasy XV and the DLC. Tabata is happy to hear that his fans love the game and he is not just leaving, but he wants to create a new project. His departure of FFXV brings up more bad news.

Cancelled Episodes!

It was announced months ago that besides Episode Ardyn, we were going to get more Episodes focusing on Aranea, Lunafreya and even Noctis. With Tabata leaving and letting Square Enix take control of the game, it has come to conclusion that the planned DLC will come to light and will be scrapped. Overall, the only Episode we’ll be getting is Episode Ardyn and it may appear as if Final Fantasy XV will be done with added content in 2019.

What’s your opinion in this news? I am sad to hear this game cancelled some exciting projects. No matter what, I am still happy to play Final Fantasy XV and I thank Tabata and the rest of Square ENix for creating this game.

Final Fantasy XV updates: Tomb Raider gear for Comrades and Terra Wars collab!

Great news for Final Fantasy XV fans, Square Enix announced and release an update the most recent title of Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy XV. It is been released today that the game got an update in both comrades and the main story. In Comrades, players can customize their character by using gear and clothing from the recent game Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Whether you are a male or female, players can wear the traditional blue shirt from Tomb Raider. Players can also listen to the Tomb Raider music in the game as well.

Just like the Assassin’s Creed collaboration, Final Fantasy XV has teamed with another anticipated game series called Terra Wars. Terra Wars is a game created by Hironobu Sakaguchi’s and the company working on it is done by Mistwalker Corporation; Terra Wars is an upcoming mobile game. You can play this collaboration in chapter 5 of the main game and it will appear as a sidequest. It will appear that this update is permanent and players don’t have to worry about the collaboration disappearing like Assassin’s Creed and the Chocobo Moogle carnival.

This update is available for PS4, X1 and PC owners.
