You may have seen the commercials through Crunchyroll, Nissin has partnered with Shonen series One Piece and promote cup noodles. What makes the commercials unique is that with a different animating team, the One Piece characters appear as high school students in a slice of life world. Even characters like Brook and Chopper appear as humans as oppose to them appearing like a talking skeleton and reindeer. In the past commercials, we seen videos of focusing on Zoro and another one about Nami. Today, Nissin teamed up again but this time, they got the band BUMP OF CHICKEN to do a music video about One Piece and cup noodles. The song is called “Kinen Satsuei”.

New characters join One Piece and One-Punch Man games

In case you missed out on some game news, I got you covered. With these games slowly but surely are coming out on 2020, we’re getting new information each day. Bandai Namco announced some new characters joining in the upcoming One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 and One-Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows.

In One-Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows, two heroes join in the game. We have the Tank Top Army featuring Tank-Top Master and the brothers Tank-Top Blackhole and Tank-Top Tiger. We also have S-rank hero Metal Bat.

In One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4, Basil Hawkins becomes a playable character. He is the user of the straw-straw fruit and with his powers, he can manipulate straws and use voodoo magic on his enemies. Gameplay images also reveals that characters like Sabo, Aokiji (Kuzan) and Blackbeard pirates Marshall and Jesus Burgess will be in the game in a original story in Wano.

We are a couple of months away until we reach 2020 and One Piece is still kicking butt in the anime/manga community. If you been following the games, you might have heard that there is plans of another Pirate Warriors game. One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 will be the fourth game in the Pirate Warrior series where the story will go beyond to the current arc, Wano. It’s been announced today that two new characters will be joining the game as playable characters. If you been following the series, Luffy has an unique ability called Gear 4 where Luffy inflates himself and can use his rubber powers and haki at the same time to increase his strength and speed. In Pirate Warriors 4, get ready to play Luffy’s extended use of Gear 4 called Snakeman (or Snake-Man) Luffy. In this form, Luffy still uses Gear 4, but he appears slim and agile than his regular Bounce-Man form. Also joining in this game is Big Mom’s strongest commanders named Katakuri. Katakuri is a powerful foe who ate the devil fruit Mochi-Mochi Fruit. With his powers, Katakuri fights almost like Luffy’s style but instead of rubber powers, it’s all mochi (a Japanese rice gelatin). In the series, these two fought during the Big Cake Island arc.

Here is the current playable roster for this game:

  • Luffy (also including Gear 4: Snake-Man and Bounce-Man)
  • Zoro
  • Sanji
  • Reiju
  • Jimbei
  • Carrot
  • Katakuri

One Piece Romance Dawn ver. 2 movie announced!

If I know anything about One Piece, One Piece is the longest going anime and it has so many fans that could be compared to other anime like Dragon Ball. With the success of the recent movie One Piece Stampede, you would think Japan would slow down on the success of One Piece. However, you know what they say, keep the flames going! It’s been announced that Japan will be working on a One Piece TV special based on Eiichiro Oda’s project one-shot Romance Dawn. This is a second version of Romance Dawn where the story and characters are different in this One Piece world. Of course Luffy is still same rubber pirate, but in this version, the one who gave Luffy the Straw Hat was his grandfather, Garp, who is a captain of pirate crew and the characters he meets is a blue-haired girl named Ann and an antagonist named Spiel the Hexagon. This TV special is to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the anime. This anime special is currently going to be for Japan viewers.

There is another version of Romance Dawn but that one was released in 2008 at 40th JUMP Super Anime Tour. The name Romance Dawn is a prototype title in which was used for Eiichiro Oda when he was making One Piece.

One Piece is becoming the longest going series in Shonen Jump history. Not only the anime is reaching over 900 episodes and with the recent movie Stampede being a success, we’re getting another One Piece Pirate Warriors game. Already mentioned, One Piece will be getting a fourth Pirate Warriors game for the PS4, X1, Switch and PC. It’s been announced that the following playable characters are Luffy, Sanji, Zoro, Reiju, Jimbei and now Carrot. Originally, the game will be covering the Whole Cake Island. Now, according to Tokyo Game Show, fans will go beyond to the current arc in the land of Wano, the county of samurais and ninjas. Based on the trailer, players will be in the current arc of the story and it may be an original story different than what’s going on in the manga/anime. It’s pretty common especially since the 3rd game did the same thing in the Dressrosa arc. Also in the trailer, it looks Luffy will be facing another Emperor of the sea; his name is Kaido and he is one of the Four Emperors of the Sea. This game is coming out in 2020.

One Piece creator hopes to end series within 5 years?

One Piece is the longest running Shonen Jump title for both anime and manga. For its length, it was dubbed by fans one of the “Big 3” in manga and anime; Bleach and Naruto was one of the Big 3. The manga of Naruto ended in 2015 and Bleach ended in 2016, but the anime ended in a cliffhanger without entering the final arc in 2012. Now that these two are done, One Piece is the only one still kicking it. However, the question is this: how long can One Piece survive?

Prior to the Japanese theatical release of One Piece Stampede, a special YouTube video was released by Japanese YouTube comedy collective Fischer in which the YouTuber had a special interview with One Piece author Eiichiro Oda. Oda made a comment regarding how long he wanted One Piece to continue.

“I want to end it in five years,” said Eiichiro Oda

According to Crunchyroll and J-list, this time span is pretty vague but it also may be inaccurate. It could take 5 years or might even take within the 5 years. It was already mentioned that One Piece will have over 100 volumes and it is currently 65% done with the story.
