Friday Funny 142: New Season for 25 cents

Thank God it’s Friday! Welcome back to a new episode and season of TGIF Friday Funny! Before we start this episode, I got some new news for you. As we enter 2018, get ready for new stuff like video games and movies! Currently in January, we will be getting some new fighting games: Dragonball FighterZ, Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition and Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. In Dragonball FighterZ, Publisher Bandai Namco of Entertainment and Developer Arc Work Systems will be working together and create a new Dragonball fighting game. It won’t be like Budokai, Tenkaichi nor the Xenoverse and instead, the game will be played like the Guilty Gear series. The animation will be similar to the manga and anime and it will have characters from Z and Super along with a new character named Android 21. In Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, Capcom will re-release Street Fighter V but it will include free updated content such as DLC characters to the recent roster, an arcade mode where you can unlock illustrations and even new V-Triggers for fun combat. If you already have Street Fighter V, the Arcade Edition will be a free download so you don’t have to pay again. If you are like me and didn’t buy the game, you can buy the Arcade Edition instead and the price is about $35. Last but not least we have Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. In this game, players will be able to control their favorite heroes from FF1 to FF15 along with Type-0 and Tactics. The game will be in PS4 and the with the help of Team Ninja, the characters look amazing. Ever want to play as Noctis (FF15) and fight Sephiroth (FF7) or have Cloud (FF7) fight Kefka (FF6)? Now you can!

As random news, January 4th is the day where the Cartoon Network classic Ed, Edd’n Eddy debuted on TV. This is my cartoon growing up and it’s something I would watch everyday besides SpongeBob SquarePants. Ed, Edd’n Eddy first premiered in January 4th, 1999 and now that we are in 2018, this cartoon is 19 years old. The show starred three young boys who’s named both starts with Eds, who creates these devious scams in hopes of robbing kids in order to buy jawbreakers. We have the first Ed named Ed who is the dumbest but happy kid who has bad odor but with great strength; he also loves chickens and eats butter toast with gravy. He is voiced by Matt Hill who surprisingly did voices for anime characters such as Kira Yamoto in Gundam Seed Destiny and Bankotsu in Inuyasha and Mou Ten in Kingdom. Second Ed is Eddward but he nicknamed Double D because his name has two D’s. He is the smartest and clean freak kid who likes to stay organize and creates plans for the group. He wears a hat but no one knows why he wears it and the only people who seen his head is his own friends Ed and Eddy. Double D is voiced by Samuel Vincent who did many voices in cartoons and anime. In anime, he did Dexter from Hamtaro, Sidoh from Death Note, and just like Matt Hill, he was in Gundam Seed Destiny and he voiced Athrun Zala. Last but not least, we have Eddy. Eddy is the leader and the shortest of the group. He is the one comes up with the scams and he is the greediest kid. He constantly brags about having a cool and intimated brother and he wants to be the popular kid in the cul-de-sac. Eddy is voiced by Tony Sampson. He also did anime but unlike the previous two he didn’t do Gundam Seed Destiny and instead, he was in Mobile Suit Gundam Seed as Miguel Aiman and he voiced as Toya Kinomoto in Cardcaptor Sakura.

Sorry for this extensive information, but I love this show and I could go on but I need to start this episode. Here is something to laugh!

To conclude this post, here are some Canadian humor!

Life as many doors Ed boys! See you next time!

Friday Funny 132: Odyssey October

Thank God it’s Friday! Welcome back to another episode of Friday Funny. Just like the title says, this is fun day today because of a long anticipated game is finally out today! If you have Nintendo Switch, I am jealous and I want one. Anyway, today is the release of Super Mario Odyssey! In this game, once again Mario has to travel different worlds to save Peach and stop a forced wedding from Bowser. With the power of a magical hat named Cappy, Mario can toss his hat on people and objects and take control of them. Players can also customize Mario and make dress up in anything such as Dr. Mario, a football player, or in his swim clothes. One of the amazing features is that Mario can explore worlds in a open world game. Not to mention. Paulina from the old Donkey Kong game shows up again and she sings the well-known and beautiful song “Jump Up, Super Star!” So pick up your controls and get ready to play this game at home, work or anywhere.

If you are like me and don’t have a Switch, get ready for Halloween. Halloween will be on October 31st and once we get done with Halloween, get ready for November. I forgot to write this on my blog but the online expansion to Final Fantasy XV will be delayed. Final Fantasy XV Multiplayer Expansion: Comrades will be available to download on November 7th and if you have the season pass to FFXV, this game will be free.

With this all said, here’s your treat for today!

Here is some songs to wrap up this memeful post. With Super Mario Odyssey out, Sega will be releasing their game Sonic Force. These games play differently but they have amazing songs. Which song do you like the most? Jump Up, Super Star vs Fist Bump?

To hype up Halloween, here are some spooky anime songs:

Please be sure to check out my best friend Allie’s fanfiction blog. Give her your love and support and encourage her to keep writing her story!

Goodbye my friends!

Friday Funny 129: New Life

Thank God it’s Friday! Welcome back to another exciting episode of Friday Funny. This Friday is the first Friday of October! I hope everyone is okay in the past couple of days. Things have been stressful for here and for everyone. I pray that the victims from the Vegas attack are okay and I hope the family are recovering. For me and my personal life, I am currently moving to a new home with the family. It is time for a new beginning and a new life away from the busy city. Just in case, I might be able to respond back in the weekend since my family and I will try to get our WiFi by Sunday, so expect me to talk really late. In anime news, the second season of Iron-Blooded Orphans will be premiered in Toonami.

With this said, here is memes!

To end this video, I want to share some music that will help encourage anyone who is feeling hurt, helpless or lonely. My life is not as bad compared to the incident in Vegas. The tragic moment in Vegas is so heartbreaking because innocent people got hurt for no reason and we are forced to see the end results. However, I want everyone to know that just because you are hurting, you don’t have to bear this alone, we can share it together. We must hold hands and help each other out. We are strong but we can be stronger together. Our enemy may hurt us but we will not fall down.

I know these songs are not matching but I try to pick some songs to help boost willpower. I hope these help you all. God bless you all. Bye!

Friday Funny 128: Serving tasty memes better than Pumpkin Spice Latte!

Thank God it’s Friday! Welcome again for another fantastic Friday. I am here to share some nice and tasty memes for this fall season. Today is the last Friday of September and after this weekend, we will be in October, the tenth month. October is a good month because the weather is suppose to cool down and put summer to rest (hopefully! In CA, the weather could be hot and dry or cold and dry.)

You might have noticed the lack of news posts and just posts in general, well I got some life-changing news to share that I have been keeping away for a while. I haven’t said this earlier because life is throwing challenges not only me but also my family. Well, here is the news: My family and I are moving. We are living the city and moving to a more quiet environment. For more than 20 years, we have lived in the city for a while and now, we feel like the city has been too busy and the world has filled with many crazy events. As we move to a new area in California, we hope that life will feel easier and in a calm atmosphere. That is the biggest news in my life. I will try to remind it again for next but next week will probably be busy because I am moving. In both Friday and Saturday, I will be moving. Just in case if things get too hectic, I might not be able to blog until things get settled; however, if there is time to blog, I will be able to talk to you guys. I don’t want to cause panic to any of you if you guys start to wonder. (Not to mention, since my anime and manga is all boxed together, I have to put on a break on my anime viewing.)

In the anime world, precisely Toonami, Tomorrow is the last episode of season 2 Tokyo Ghoul Root A. Next week, the popular series Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans returns to Toonami with an English Dub of Season 2!

With this said, let’s get October ready by raising our flags!

Β To conclude this post, here are some interesting videos I found very interesting from a blogger named Joseph of Scorpzgca. I recommend checking his blog for any video game and comic book news:

To say goodbye to Tokyo Ghoul in Toonami, here is the opening and ending song of season 2:

Also, don’t forget to read Allie’s fanfiction! If you visit her, tell her I sent you there :). Here are the following episodes:

Bye! See you at Anteiku!

TGIF Episode 124: Feel the heat!

Thank God it’s Friday! Welcome to another exciting episode of TGIF Friday Funny. I hope everyone is okay since this week has been really stressful. Here in California, we are hit by a heat wave again where the temperature is in the triple digits in Fahrenheit. I hope everyone in Texas is okay. If you don’t what’s going on, Texas got hit by a hurricane called Hurricane Harvey. I pray that everyone in Texas is alright. As we make it to September, get ready for a climate change. We will slowly movie from heat to cooling weather as we approach fall. As we go to a new month, get ready for rapid change in all of us. The OWLS will begin a new blog tour month in this new month. Our topic will be called treasure and it will focus on emotional struggles. Please support us as we try spread the word in this important topic. Let’s begin this weekend with something funny and happiness!

To end this post, I want to share an imaginary playlist for Noctis since it was his birthday on Aug 30th. I did one with Gladiolus and Prompto, now it’s Noctis turn. Don’t worry, I will do Ignis but probably in December since his Episode will likely be there. This is my idea playlist just for fun!

That’s all my friends~

Friday Funny 115: Hello July!

Thank God it’s Friday! Welcome back to another hot Friday and I am happy to say that we finally made it to this day. Today is the last day of June and we will now be approaching to July! As we get ready for July, a lot of exciting things are coming to us. First, the OWLS will be entering a new blog tour topic and today will be the last day of the June’s topic Team. Also coming in July is the upcoming Spider-Man film “Spider-Man: Homecoming” in which will take place in the MCU and after Civil War. The movie will be out in theaters in 7/7 and it will have Tom Holland as Spider-Man and Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man. Also, Independence Day is on July 4th, which means fireworks and barbecue! Please don’t use illegal fireworks or play with fire!!!

Also, I finally got my hands on the DLC for Final Fantasy XV, it’s called Episode Prompto. After the issue with Sony and the PSN store, I was able to play as Prompto without spending money since I also have the season pass. Hopefully, I will do a review on this DLC like I did with Episode Gladiolus.

Let’s end June with a blast!

To celebrate this release of Episode Prompto and to conclude this post, I went and made playlist featuring songs that could fit to Prompto. Just like in episode 106, I did playlist of Gladiolus and I chose songs that might fit him. Today it will be songs all about Prompto. If played Final Fantasy XV and don’t agree with some of the songs, comment below what do think matches with Prompto. Anyway, let’s listen to music.

Prompto Playlist:

Bye friends and God bless you all!

TGIF Friday Funny Origins – Story Time

TGIF! Thank God it’s Friday!

This is the catchphrase or slogan to my weekly special “TGIF: Friday Funny” posts. To those who don’t know or already know, every Friday I post these weekly posts called “TGIF: Friday Funny (or Friday Funnies).” In these posts, I usually begin with the usually “TGIF! Thank God it’s Friday!” and then I talk about what’s new. I usually talk about a recap of the previous couple days in regards to anime, manga, or even movies and video games before I start my post. In each posts, I always fill it with silly memes and gifs. These pictures are “clean” in content in which it is safe for even families can look at. These memes can be about anime, movies, non-anime or just pure random stuff. I could post a meme of an anime like DragonBall Z or Sailor Moon or I can share a meme from SpongeBob SquarePants and Spider-Man. I do my best to provide the best entertainment to help people start these Fridays great depending on which timezone you are reading this; in which case, to start with the best Friday afternoon or evening. In most of my posts, I end it with a funny YouTube video or just music.

Today, I will be talking and telling everyone my origin story on how did I come up with Friday Funny and what was the beginning like. I mentioned in the past I wanted to do a special post like this and I think you know who you are. I also told bits about my story and I think some of you may of heard but today, I will tell everyone about humble beginnings.

So without further ado, let’s begin this origin story.

Part 1 – The Original TGIF Messenger

naruto and jiriya frog tumblr_lb76pyu8a51qb6jd9o1_500

Long time ago, way before blogging was a thing, I was barely learning how to use cell phone in middle school. It was no smart phone, the only purpose it did was call or sent messages. Back then, Myspace was the most social media. Anyway, every Friday my dad would send picture messages saying “TGIF” with a cartoon character; it was usually something silly like SpongeBob SquarePants or just cute animal pictures with a ringtone. My mom would actually find a picture online in the computer and save them on a SD card and put it her phone and send them to my dad for Fridays. They were mostly cartoons from Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network or even Disney. C Every Friday we get these messages, it puts a smile on our faces to see something silly to start Fridays. I enjoyed them as they remind that we just need to get through this day and enjoy the weekends. My parents were the original TGIF people.

However, since my dad would be too busy with work to send some messages, he would do it once in every Friday.

Part 2 – Taking over the Title

One Piece Romance_Dawn_Arc

After a while, my dad was still doing the TGIF messages every Friday morning to help start the day. I don’t remember exactly when or how, but it was that point in my life that I wanted to my own version of TGIF. Finding pictures and putting them on cell phones was not always easy. We had Windows XP and we had to rely on SD cards. Once I learned how to add pictures on my phone, I would find images online and send them out on Friday mornings. Once my dad realized what I was doing, we competed with each other on who had the better picture messages. It was fun to see each others’ messages and see which one gave us a big smile. Unfortunately, this didn’t last.

I wasn’t sure if my dad was too busy or he just lost interest but he stopped sending messages. I was the only one that did these TGIF messages every Friday. He then decided that he liked what I was doing and he decided to retire. He gave me the job to send these messages on Fridays. Up until this day, from middle school, high school and even college, I always send a text message with the words “TGIF.”

Part 3 – Welcome to the Blogging World of WordPress

Bleach Ichigo_In_His_Inner_World

Most of you already knows this by now but I started blogging way back in my early years in college. I took an English class that we had to make an account and blog in order be graded. I had to sign up to WordPress. I didn’t know what’s a blog and what does it look like. After a while, I got the hang of it; I had to just make a title and post some news in the United States. I enjoyed blogging. It was different and I enjoyed posting news. This was before talked or shared my interest with anime or manga.

After completing the class, I decided to leave the blogging world and resume back to my previous “non-social media” life. Life was dull as usual but not all the time. I lived in private life and the communications I had with technology was text messaging or calling. By the end of 2015, I had this interest of keeping a journal or just doing reviews on my favorite hobbies. My hobbies was watching anime, playing video games and reading manga. I felt like I wanted to share them to people. At this time, I was thinking on how will I do it. That’s what hit me, I remembered that I still had my WordPress account and my site was still there. I reopened my site and I got started on creating drafts. I even changed my blog name from “Matthew Castillo – Dilly Dally Shilly Shally” to “Matt-in-the-Hat – No Doubt About That.” This was the turning point of my life.

Part 4 – Rough Starts and Meme Collecting

DRRR tumblr_m39rokeFIf1r877bvo1_500

Like any beginner, my blogging habits wasn’t as great and my writing in this digital realm was quite weak. I hardly visited people’s site and anime reviews were too short and probably biased. It took me a while until it improved. As time passed, I was just an aniblogger who would share the news and review anime. Even though I talked about anime, I wanted to be different. I already knew I wasn’t the only guy who would these anime topics. I saw cosplay posts, anime discussions, blog tips, top posts and reviews. As much as I like anime, I also like video games, comics, movies and even cartoons. As I was wondering what to do in order be an individual, I came across an app for Androids and iPhones called iFunny πŸ™‚.

This app was filled with memes, vines, and even gifs. It would have random jokes and humor from different users and it was used for entertainment. I like this app for the comedy and related and non-related jokes. I did notice, however, it did have some anime memes and gifs but they were not as funny as seeing mainstream memes regarding to things like SpongeBob, Kanye West, Barack Obama, or The Walking Dead or whatever is common. If an anime meme was ever considered popular in the selections, commenters are quick to say “collective leak” or “Weeabos.” As an anime fan, I like memes that uses anime for jokes. I would download them and collect them and look at them again for the future for viewing pleasures.

Even after getting some good memes, the only ones that enjoyed anime memes was myself. Then I had an idea, I told myself “what if I use all the collected memes and post it for everyone can see?”

With that idea in my mind, I uploaded the memes and wrote out a post for Friday and I entitled it “TGIF: Friday Funny.”

Part 5 – Friday Funny – A Bumpy Start

oreimo kirino efore_anyone_asks_it_s_not__b1247aa7961ad875f98349dfa1face00

When I first started these Friday Funny posts, I didn’t get many views. As a beginner aniblogger, nobody really knew me or had any interest on me. However, I didn’t let that bother me. I continued these posts every Friday until someone notices them; I even did Monday posts with memes and called it Random Mondays. Random Mondays was going to be like “TGIF: Friday Funny” but only Mondays. They were going to help make Mondays feel great and put people in a better mood but I scrapped that idea because that would be too hard to do for Fridays and Mondays.

Later on as I made more episodes, I even did “themed posts”. I would write silly and creative titles for each episodes and posts the majority of memes for that episode. For example, “Episode 25: Happy Birthday Naruto! Never Had a friend like you!” was a special Friday episode consisting of Naruto memes and promoting the Diamond Edition release of Disney’s Aladdin. On “Episode 35: May the Force be with you!”, I used mainly Star Wars memes to help bring hype for Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie on December 2015.

However, whenever it wasn’t themed or was, I even used random pictures from anime or even causal memes that anyone can enjoy; otaku, gamers or even casual viewers can still have good time with these memes. I also try to use clean jokes; I won’t post any racist, sexist, dark humor or any other explicit memes (No rude, crude, or nudes!).

TGIF: Friday Funny is a weekly blog post that every Friday and is filled with clean content for otakus, gamers or the causual.

Part 6 – Future

It’s funny how far I went from just sending messages from a cell phone to all the way here and blogging about memes on Fridays. With all these memes and posts, I could go even up to above episode 100. My goals for the future is to continue to posts more memes on Fridays and hopefully bring a simile to those who wants one. If I can make one person smile or laugh, then I am doing a good job. You or anyone else doesn’t have to be anime fan to enjoy these posts and you don’t need to worry about offensive content. These posts were made for the public and I enjoy bringing joy and laughter to my peers. If life gets you down, come to my site and watch some episodes and just smile πŸ™‚

Thanks for reading my origin posts. Like I said, every Friday is my TGIF: Friday Funny posts. I try post them about 6am PTS. This Matthew and I hope you have blessed day. πŸ™‚

  • “Episode 5: Memorial Day Weekend Special” was my first TGIF holiday post.
  • There are 37 episodes for season 1 of TGIF: Friday Funny
  • “Episode 18: The “S” word” was inspired from talking to one of my blogging friends ignite18. She did a post titled “The S word” at her site and she had to get ready for going back to school.
  • “Episode 30: Anime is for Children” was inspired by aniblogger Arria Cross and her post “How to P*** Off Anime & Manga Fans“. I got inspired by her first point titled “Anime & Manga Are For Kids Only”.
  • On “Episode 23: Sandwich-kun or Titans?”, I promoted my blogging and YouTuber friend Anime Review Girl. At this time, she was starting to do YouTube videos. I helped bring attention to her channel.
  • Episodes 16, 35, and 66 are written differently when you click on them. For example: Episode 66 is called “Episode (Order) 66” which is a reference to Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith. Episode 35 is written as “Episode XXXV” as way to promote Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Episode 16 is titled “Sweet Friday Funny” as a joke for “Sweet 16.”
  • Season 1 episodes appear to missing memes and gifs because I transported them to Google Photos. I need more space for media library..

Friday Funny 49: Birthday v Easter – Happy Birthday

TGIF! Thank God it’s Friday! Today is Friday and this is the biggest TGIF post I have ever worked on. What makes this post special is because of many things I want to share.

Today is the last day of my finals and after today, I will be having spring break! Today is also the movie release of DC “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”. This is the second superhero movie in 2016. Who do you choose to win?

On March 26, it’s my mother’s birthday and my parent’s anniversary. Happy Birthday Mom, I love you so much that I dedicate this post to you πŸ™‚ <3<3<3<3

On March 27, it is Easter or some people call it Resurrection Day! This is an important holiday as we Christians remember that the Lord Jesus Christ rose from the dead and left the tomb. He conquered death and made it easy for us to go Heaven. Jesus is surely amazing that not even death can stop Him. He left the tombs on Sunday morning, in sunrise.

Last but not least, March 28th. On March 28th, it will be my Birthday. Stay tuned for March 28th for a special Birthday post.

With all this said, let’s begin on this awesome day!

Here are some songs my mom likes. This is for her.

Have a nice day and enjoy this Friday!

Even though that tomorrow is my Mom’s birthday. I decided to say it now for this occasion. Happy Birthday Mom and Happy Anniversary to my parents!

TGIF News: Friday Funny is doing some changes on pictures and gifs

Hello everyone. I know what were thinking when you saw the TGIF headline, this is not TGIF post like I always do on Fridays. This is some news I wanted to announce regarding to my TGIF posts. To those who may or may not have noticed, episode 1 of Friday Funny has the pictures and memes removed. I am removing the pictures from my blog BUT I moved them to my Google Photos so you can see it anytime. In order to conserve my memory, I am deleting my old TGIF pictures and transferring them to Google Photos. I am NOT ending my TGIF posts. I have been doing a lot of thinking on what to do with my old episodes from 2015. For now, they are in the process of going to Google Photos. I am keeping the GIFs here for this site.

So don’t worry about the memes. They are might be disappearing but they are in a better place. Hopefully it will make things easier for both us.

I forgot to mention this, I also provided links to Google Photos in the past episodes. I am still working on the others. Here are episodes 1, 2, and 3:
